i get this whirring sound in my CL. ive noticed it only happens at like half throttle, starting at 2250 RPM and ending around 3250 RPM. anybody know what it could be?

 

Daymn dude you had some tranny problems stop driving it so hard.

 

what are you talking about? i got the CL used a month ago, and the transmission was fucked to begin with. i dont drive it hard.

anybody have any ideas about the whirring sound though?

 

did you recently install a new head unit?? usually that sound is from a bad ground.

 

no i havent installed a head unit. what do you mean bad ground? and the sound is coming from the engine bay it sounds like. im not sure, i just know its in front of me, and its got to do with the engine since it only happens when i give it a little gas and get it right at 2250. 2250 every time.

 

your second tranny came 17 miles after the first? lol

yup he is runnin a supercharger.

supercharger or alignment issues, or lastly you have someting stuck between your brake calipers

check the airbox with the filter make sure its sitting correctly? i think i had the same problem but it just went away by itself..

 

that sounds not the airbox in my car... i have no airbox...

 

I got a 98 3.0 and in december with about 78K miles I had the same noise when I would accelerate lightly until about 3,500 RPM's....then one night everything got all dim and the car just shut off wile I was going 50 MPH--everything black!---I let it coast and tried to re-start it but not enough juice....300 bucks later I found out my alternator died.....NAPA online has some refurbished ones for 140 plus shipping

 

im thinkin it can be the alternator, however mine was just replaced at 55k miles (77k now)

 

well for your sake I hope its NOT the alt., being that you have one so fresh and when it goes out...BAM! you can't do a damn thing except explain to the girl with you that YES, even luxury cars need fixin!

i do. its not that it did it b4 i got my intake when my car was quieter. now it just blends in with the sound of my intake and my exhaust. ... Problem fixed

 

nope. i plan on getting a CT Icebox in the near future though.

right now i just have a K&N drop-in filter
