What motor oil???

I have a 3.0 cl with 118k miles, ive always put 10w30 normal oil. Now i want to go with a brand called "royal purple oil". My friend works at advanced and told me thats the best synthetic oil. its like 6.50$ a quart. Its suppose to be 150% oil.

other than that should i put synthetic on my car or should i just stay with normal oil?and if i do go with synthetic would i mess up my motor?

amsoil, royal purple, redline.....all very good brands.

But if you want the best, you gotta pay the price. Eneos, $50 for the 5 quart tub. It's 0w-50 synthetic oil. It's recommended for forced induction cars, or cars that are for the track only. Pretty much you gotta get that oil pump working hard for it to do any good. My friend uses it, but I don't really know anything about it. It's a new brand we got out here in SoCal you can only get at Super Autobacs. I tried doing research on it, but cant find shit.

In other words all those oils are for high performance cars. Mobil1 will do you fine.

Yeap. Mobil 1 is really good. I personally use Castrol or Royal Purple.

a car with higher mileage probably shouldn't switch to synthenic oil because it might create an oil leak

A lot of people I've asked have said Castrol isn't the best oil. They say after long use it becomes like slime and forms deposits in your engine.

i read most of that and it really seems AMSOIL is the best oil there is. I am considering buying their https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/asl.aspx 5w-30 ($6.75 / qt) because its reccomended to go 25,000 miles. Yes thats right 25,000 miles. Pair that with their 25,000 mile oil filter ($15) and you dont need to change your oil for the next year.

with a Viscocity index of 185 (mobile 1 is like 160 mabey) its clearly better too. Even if you race your engine or tow (severe conditions) it's reccomended to be good for 15,000 miles! thats 5x longer than regular old dino in extreme conditions!

I am using Castrol. It works fine with my 160000 miles engine. No leaking or eating

My friend had problems (oil eating and leaking) with Mobile 1 in his high mileage car.

I believe the pure synthetic oil is not good for all high mileage cars.

You should probably switch over to Higher mileage oil like Penzoil high mileage 10w-30. its got extra additives and prevents leaks.

Not from stores like Advance Auto Parts, PepBoys, or Walmart. You mostly have to go through an Amsoil Independant Dealer or throught their website.
