What all is involved in replacing a head?

Shop offered to put my old head on my "new" POS motor (bent valve = 90% compression loss in cylinder 1) with a new head gasket for $350

I don't have $350 and I think I can do it myself, I'm just not sure I'm clear on what all is involved. I think it's:

unbolt exhaust mani & drop
detach fuel supply, intake & all wiring from IM
pull timing belt cover, loosen tensioners, pull timing belt off @ drivers' side direction
pull head

old motor (out of car)
pull head
straightedge head & see if it needs machining (overheated once)

if not, install new $150 head gasket & reinstall

my worry is that I'm oversimplifying the timing belt part, so I'm looking for a walkthrough or a manual section or an FAQ etc ...

thanks guys

MY CAR WILL RUN AGAIN!!
so i can sell it

If your having to come on here and ask chances are you need to let a qualified repair shop do it. you'd hate to have two junk f22 motors. If you do decide to do it make sure to get the repair manual so that you know the torque specs and torque order.

That sounds about right. Make sure u have the right torque specs AND sequences to put it back on, also using new head studs cuz you're not supposed to reuse them once they've been torqued down. although i've done it before on a friends motor i wouldn't recommend it, especially in your case with the luck you've had lol. Also make sure that you've timed the motor correctly with the #1 cylinder at TDC and all the timing marks in the right place. Good Luck!
