Weight Reduction... practical ideas?
Weight Reduction... practical ideas?
Now I'm not talking about Ripping everything out of the car to make it a shell... But what items can be modified to take some of the fat off our car?
Just for conversations sake. Ideas for practical every-day driver that still holds its "luxury feel"?

Everyone says it's good with the pulleys but that is on my "soon to come" list. Sorry. I'll probably be getting some OBX pulleys from e-bay in about three months (if they are still selling) but nothing just yet.
i'm focusing on the interior recently so engine will wait a bit.
I'm wondering what there is that is extra stuff that can be gotten rid of without making the car ugly.
Get rid of:
Spare tire/jack/tools
Heavy subs and amps
Lighter battery?
Lighter engine mods like headers and exhaust
Lighter rims and tires
Any thing else to replace?
(too bad no CF Hood!)
I think it's interesting to hear some of the unique ways people can lighten their cars.

Not such a good idea to drag such a heavy car.....remember the car was built to be quick and fairly fast with style and luxury a premium....don't tear out all your shit.
But if you must, buy new seats...racing seats...that'll save a fair amount of weight
Replace your windows with Lexan
You can lighten your hood by removing all the ribbing under the hood.
You can pull all the sound deadening.
replace the dash with aluminum
everything else you listed before....door covers...spoiler...A/C....remove the whole unit....bumper reinforcements.....windshield washer fluid and reservoir....run a smaller radiator...remove the sways...that's about it.

and why do you want to pull everything out of ur car??
No need unless u bring it to the track....everyday use bring the things you need. I keep my tools in my car all the time just in case anything comes up.... and things always do.

It was sort of a conversational question to see if there was anything that I could do fairly easily without giving up the luxury of it all.
Interesting ideas. I know our car is obese.
