V2 Install

I have read posts about the v2 install and i have had it sittign for a while but have no had a chance to install it. Today i do and iw as wondering because i had read somewhere somehting about cutting a hole or removing the wheel. I paid for the V2 so of course i want it to go into the wheel well. Any helps/tips would be greatly appreciated! I have a 97' cl 2.2.

The V2 doesn't go into the wheel well, but the stock intake does, so you need to remove it from there.

I dont get it then, i have a short ram and it lays where the intake box was, what is the advantage to "Cold Air". And by what you are referring that i need to move are you talking about the plactic tube that goes down in a half circle?

There should be nothing in your wheel well when you are finished. The V2 is pretty much a short ram, there are pics of it installed somewhere on here.

So whats the advantage of a v2 compared to a CAI and how come i read someone say something about drilling a dole or cutting a hole in the fender?

the V2 is not a CAI... that is why there is why AEM makes:

Short ram
Cold Air
V2

If you put in the short ram you should have already taken out the stock airbox and the stock resonator (the big plastic box that sits in the passenger side wheel well which can be accessed by taking off the passenger side fender liner and then pulling out the resonator.

Well if you have the stock parts out then all you need to do is disconnect your short ram... and replace it with the v2... should be very simple if you already got a short ram on. a scerwdriver and perhaps a pair of pliers to pull off the hoses that should be all you need for this install if you already got stock stuff removed.

The advantage of the V2 over the CAI is that they use some different sound wave lengths or something that help airflow even more... so it gives you 1-2 more hp. or something like that. Another advantage is for those people (who wasted money) with bypass valves you don't gotta worry about that anymore.

and here is a stupid question but real quick the v2 is superior to the cai right, especially in a 4 cyliner. That is my understanding.

a huge black box. If you still have your stock parts... you should have 1 piece the stock intake...

second piece a large plastic box.

to remove.

Jack up passenger side of car in the front....
turn steering wheel all the way to the right
take a flat head screw driver and pry the fender off the plastic tabs.
if you want there is a screw on the corner of your front underneath bumper, you can take that out and should release more of the fender liner.

once you have the front portion of the fenderliner free you can see the big black box and just kinda pull it out... you will never need it again. (even with my stock airbox on again I have no resonator and it is not any louder with the resonator out than it was with it in)

then just put in your v2... don't forget to disconnect battery before you install v2... that way when ur done you can just reconnect and let engine idle... another thing to not forget is your radio code... if you still got stock head unit.

there is a hole in the engine bay where the resonator sticks up into.

once you remove the resonator there is a large hole where a CAI can fit down into... outside air flows through this hole into the engine bay.

the V2 sits right on top of the whole so it is almost a CAI but not and almost a short ram but not. the difference is the different diameter tubing they use to create that increased airflow.

just do it.

OMG

you pull out the top piece of the resonator the half circle thing you are talking about... and then underneath in the wheel well which I explained how to take it out... it is a big black plastic box.

no sensors no nothing just replace hoses and your intake piping... reset ECU by disconnecting battery for 15 mins then reconnecting and idling for 10 mins.

measure the diameter of the filter outlet... then the height and the diameter of the top and then go to the performance shop and get yourself a K&N with same dimensions.

AEM makes K&N style filters... not sure if K&N is any better... but people "think" they are... and I'll have to go with the masses on this one. but the AEM one should do you fine I was using the AEM one until I took it off and the rubber part broke since I think I put the clamp on to hard.

Fallin in love feels great, the v2 is just wow, mine doesnt go intot he wheel well but i will need to modify one of my alarm sirens because it akes it a tight fit but wow car feels fun. WAAAAAY better then those ebay cheap ones (which i had before). Fairly easy install and i took off the passenger side wheel to make ti extra easy. I just got a question, i know where the tube that conects from the intake to the vavle cover but i still have two more hoses, where do they go or do i even need them?

Do you have a 3.0? The V2 for the 3.0 is a CAI style.

lol you have no hoses on ?!!!!

one goes from the valve cover to the intake... should be a sprocket on the intake tubing near the manifold.

and then the second one should connect 2 other engine components together Im not sure what it connects but the stock one connected those 2 things with a hose so I put one on there. check my www I have a pic of the CAI installed but should be the same hose connections.

http://f2.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/ju5...&.dnm=2c07.jpg

there is the valve cover to to intake tubing hose as you can see... then under there it looks like a U in the picture that hose connects 2 engine components which I do not know the names of.
