CL 2.3 '99. I feel and hear a clunking noise everytime I release the clutch at low speeds on traffic. Anybody else had this problem? I'm kinda sure is a worn-out driveshaft u-joint...Am I right or not? Seeking advise!!!!

 

Im not sure if our car has a drive shaft.

I know the clunking your describe is something to worry about in a rear wheel drive car.

does it do it when you go in reverse sometiems? Or up into a driveway? Is it a loud clunk?

 

Yeah i have the same problem in cold weather. I think it is either the CV joints are going or the lower ball joints on the control arms. Its only when putting a small amount of torque in first and second gear. It could also possibly be the sway bar bushings clunking i was thinking.

 

I had this problem and it turned out to be loose bolts on the front crossbar that holds the front motor mount on it. There were 3 bolts loose on each side where it connects to the frame. The torque and jerking the car caused the engine to move back and forth and slam on the tranny.
