Hello guys i am new to this, i have a problem i need some help please. i am not much of a savvy like i seen in theards here anyways... i bought a 98 cl auto, it came with a swap, on the engine says 3.0 vtech if im not wrong its the 2000 cl, i think he mentioned it a j30 engine not too sure...the tranny slips on 2nd and 3rd gear so i was wondering what kind of tranny i need to look for? and also when you gun the car, sometimes it goes into v-tech but other time it bogs out like at 4krpm, i wonder if this is due to the tranny or i need to look for something else? i appreciate any help thanks!

 

First of all, what you have is a first gen (97-99) 3.0 CL auto with the stock J30 engine and tranny. There is no such thing as 2000 CL... The trannys die alot on these cars so you're gonna need a tranny rebuild which will cost anywhere around $2k.

ahhh thanks for the reply, and the part where it bogs out when hits vtech do you tink is bcz of the tranny or can it be something else?

 

that could be any number of things from the tranny to a clogged cat to low oil pressure etc. Are you throwing any codes?

 

Welcome to Azine, sorry to hear that your tranny is dying, or it sure sounds like it is. It can also bog because the tranny is slipping, which all signs point towards from what i've read.
