tranny problems

when i first start accelerating from a slow roll it feels like my tranny is slipping for a second. it dosn't happen if i give it very little gas at first, then accelerate normally. also, when i first start driving after my car has been sitting for a while, the shifts are not smooth and the rpms jump. this happens from first to second and second to third. does anyone know whats wrong? 2.3 auto

My 3.0 had been giving me similar problems. I changed out about 90% of the fluid and replaced it with Honda ATF from the dealer (AAMCO had done work and I doubt they used the Honda stuff despite my repeated instructions). It made a pretty big difference - no slippage from first to second anymore, maybe once in a while after a long trip. The stuff I sucked out was getting burnt up from the look of it...

I dont understand my first tranny was normal no problems...then all the sudden it slipped and wouldnt drive. So now i got my rebuilt tranny and it does all this weird crap. Like from 1st to 2nd sometimes it just slams into gear and lags like crayz. The mechanic told me its normal for honda tranny's to shift hard? My 1st tranny never shifted hard? What can i do to help out my tranny?
