Took the 2.3 turbo to the track, ehh
Didn't run anywhere near what I wanted.
I wasnt entirely planning on running it at all today since Id never been to the track and just wanted to watch. But I couldnt resist, so heres what happened.
First, because of liability laws, I couldn't drive it, which I suspected would be the case (I'm 17). So I had to have my friend Brad drive it, who had never driven it before.
Run 1 the CL was up against a 10 second drag car with no exhaust. Needless to say that was loud as hell and Brad didnt notice how much he burned out off the line because of it. So after some massive wheel spin the first time ever driving the car, Brad got a 16.37@88.78. Since stock is about 16.85@84.8 (source: carpoint) I wasnt too thrilled with that. I tried to ride with him the first run to see what boost it was hitting but you cant even ride in the car without a waiver.
Run 2 was up against a VW 1.8T. I got Brad to launch slower this time. His RT got much slower but the ET improved to 15.65@89.55. I think the boost was at 7 pounds but since there was no place to set boost inside the track and I couldnt ride in the car Im not positive.
Basically I was just trying to get an idea of what it would do. When I go back I will have an electronic boost controller, 1 more hour dyno time, much less gas (had about 14 gallons in it today) and I'll get my mommy to go sign the waiver so I can drive. Then I'll make some runs at 7-9 psi. I can definately be in the 14s with my setup though.
Oh and if anyone cares it was 85 degrees with about 70% humidity

damn i didnt even notice the ages are shown now above the post counts.
the tires are falken ziex 512s. they arent really the problem, it just makes too much power to launch how he tried with the fwd. i think he said he dropped it at 4000 rpm, which was not really good. even stock it woulda bounced and/or spun like that.
clutch im running an ACT organic street disc with extreme pressure plate. nothing monsterous but it holds.

get a vafc and get the thing dynoed and tuned properly
and then your set
nice runs too bad you could not drive it yourself, im sure you could have done much better
what kind of turbo are you running? bov? wastegate? intercooler?

I'm running hondata and its been dyno tuned for 3 hours already (they only made about 4 pulls an hour). I'm switching to an electronic boost controller since the manual cant bleed off enough air up top so my boost drops. Once I install the EBC and get it tuned by a better tuner I should net about 20 more hp in addition to the 2 extra pounds of boost I could have run yesterday.

true, but at this point 14s are very possible. i also have a wicked torque curve which makes it fun to drive.

Plus, ever try to road course one of those 10 second civics? Yea...that doesn't work. Continuous runs over and over again? Yea...no. Overheat, etc. Reliable? No. Pimp? No.
You get my point.
