funny shiftin tranny

ok here's my problem...i've made the trip from atl to pensacola, fl 3 times now in my fiance's 97 3.0 cl (we get married on the 11th of july by the way) and every time i've made the run, the car starts out pretty cool then it gets possessed... it seems like it drops out of overdrive, the revs drop and the shift light on d4 goes out and then it'll come back on in a few seconds. the first time it happened i dropped it to 3rd and then back to 4 and it was cool. now it does it pretty much surges the whole time i'm on a long run.

and to add to that...i checked the fluid in the transmission when i stopped for gas, and the dipstick was dry...i want to stress that...DRY. and it just came from havin acura service the car maybe 2 months ago. i've since added fluid and drove back to p-cola and the thing still did the surge dance

this is the car's second tranny and it has about 60k on it, is this one about to take a vacation?? or can i still save it

It sounds like its about to take a shit...But put on a tranny cooler when you get a chance. It really helps with long drives/consistantly pushing the car.

it could be on it's way out. and driving w/o fluid doesn't help either. maybe resetting the ecu will clear the surge problem
