tinted tails and led question

I recently bought a 99 2.3 cl and have been lightly modding the car thus far. This week i plan on using vinyl taillight tint and from the looks of the finished product there gonna be pretty dark.I live in new york and dont wanna be fucked with to much so i was wondering how much of a diffrence would the light output thru tinted tails be with full led swaps? What colors should i be looking to buy red or white?Any help would be great before i spend a bunch on leds.Post your setup if you've done it.

I have tint on my tail lights but do not have LED's so now sure what you are looking for. You can see light just fine through the tint on mine with stock lights and its pretty dark also

Yea, you could see my brake lights even during the bright day. A oem spoiler with the freaking bright led bar really helps tho.

the tint doesn't really hurt the light output that much, from what ive seen. putting LEDs in won't hurt though.

good to know..i'm thinking of doing the same..was thinking about swapping the tail lights with LEDs if i did go this route..but if it doesn't make that big of a difference then i won't have to spend money on new LEDs! but to go with OP, some pics would be nice so those that are thinking about tinting the tails have an idea and can judge whether or not if they still want to get LEDs..TIA

Alright i guess i'll have to make the decision after i tint them to see how the light output is.I'm thinking at the bare minimum an led brake light..tends to be alot of retards on the road at all times.I purchased vinyl overlays off ebay for our cl and they look pretty nasty hoping there not complete crap i'd rather not spray.

I have overlays on mine as well. There are a few people that has bought those precut ones off of ebay and they seem to like them. My tail lights are a little hard to see in the day but brake lights are fine, tail lights are fine at night

I forgot to mention that these pictures were taken with my cell phone so there not very clear but you can get the picture of the light of the tails at night. brake lights would of course be even brighter during the day and night

mine actually aren't those precut ones from eBay. There is a guy on this forum that had some tint he had ordered for tail lights left over and I bought some from him and cut and tinted them myself. When you do get a chance to get yours on just take your time and use a hair dryer to stretch the tint to get the curves to look right because it stretches a pretty good bit and it needs it to get the bubbles and stuff out. I took my tail lights out to do mine but thats really not necessary
