Changed mine at 85xxx miles. With me living in Canada, it's consider as driving under "severe" condition, plus recommanded to be change after...7 years i think?

if its the stock belt, inspect it for any tearing... I'd go ahead and schedule a change very soon. That's not the kind of thing you just want to risk, you know?

so far no one who waited and blew their stock belt, encouraging to those who just cant afford the $800.. (yes i know, better to spend $800 now than $3000 later, but if ya dont get $800, ya dont got $800!)

That is very encouraging. I'm at 90 and kinda paranoid, but this makes me feel better. I HOPE I can squeeze out another 10k before spending the cash.

I waited until just recently to change mine. I risked it all the way up to 132k. I bought all the parts for $100, and got a mechanic friend to do all the work for $150. So I guess I'm the cheapest on here so far, a total price of $250!

im at 114K and i have the new belt/pump sitting in the garage waiting to be installed.. if you dont have the $$ and have done some car work before, give it a try.. you'll def. need a helms manual though, and the crankshaft pulley is a bitch to get off. the timing belt replacement kit is $144 on ebay, so you'll save like $500

86,000.... It was done just before I bought her. All the paper work checked out. I figure 7 years or 105K wich ever comes first. I'm now at 112,000 so when I reach 191K, I'll do it again.

700-800 seems right. the kit is like 250 ish and if they order it , it comes with a warranty. if you can be-friend someone there you might be able to get it done cheaper

I put 108 on mine before i got the chance to change it, It is best that it does get done though, or at the least checked.

My friend let his 86 bmw 528e belt go till one day his car "stopped" I fixed it for him, we were lucky to find a head on ebay for 100 bucks with a good valve train. Changing the belt is no fun, but The head is no fun to the 4th power.

I'll do mine at 102k right before the warranty goes. It's got 87k on it now so I have about 1 more year or so.
