Yes it will disable your controls... unless you have a good installer that can by-pass the connections and connect them to your new radio... most likely NOT going to happen!

Your stereo...the unit that pretty much controls everthing (like your radio, cd player, CD changer controls, etc)

There are interface devices available that will allow your new head unit work with the steering wheel controls. Your new deck has to either have or be capable or working with a infrared remote from the manufacturer. You program the unit with the remote from the deck and the steering wheel controls, so you can make the 3 buttons on the wheel do what you want them to. I think the brand is PIE (precision interface electronics).

With a changer, you can mount it in the glove box or the center console so you do not have to get out to change the magazine.

that's a good idea, which brand/model will fit in our glove or center console? and will the acura headunit be able to control the changer? and Does the 2.3 have the same unit setup as the 3.0?

Most changers will fit in the console, as they are relatively small... the glove box should fit most smaller 5 or 6 disc units.

Alpine makes a changer (chm-s630 about $250) that, with the use of an adapter ($30), plugs right into your stock head unit and the changer is controlled by the buttons on the stock deck. This changer sounds better than the factory changer, and is a hell of a lot cheaper. PM "woodek" if you have real interest in this setup, as I helped him with it and he seems very pleased with it.

Where could I get one of these adapters, and it will work with any deck that has an IR remote? I just got a new MP3 headunit, and miss my steering wheel controls...
