Starting Out with a '97 2.2CL
Alright, as some of you may already know, I just recently became the recipient of a Black '97 Acura 2.2CL (Auto.) and was wondering what modifications would be a good way to start off my adventure
. So, I already have plans to tint my tails and get some clear bumpers. It has to look clean just sitting in my driveway until I get my license in March (yeah, I'm only 15, so what?). But this is mainly what I want to know, what steps should I take after that? I'm thinking about a AEM V2 and maybe some ceramic headers, flowmaster, black & silver rims, and some coilovers when I have the money to do it. I've also seen the WW front lip and the accord sides & rear. Those might be nice to in the long run, but I hear the lip is hard to find nowadays. Anything else I should know, like what should be done b4 everything else (tips maybe...)? A lot of the stuff I'm not too familiar with right now (after all I've only had a car for 3 days
) but any feedback/explanation would be appreciated.
*If there is any threads like this already out there I couldn't find it with the search....also, I've heard that headers with a magnaflow can sound like crap, is this always the case?
Wow I wrote a lot, well this way I can get the n00b in me gone...

You gotta remember I'm 15 and probably a few years from another cl at all (technically it's still my parent's car too-and they'd flip if I turned around and sold it)...I'll do what I can with it. As long as I still smoke the posers at my school I'm good

lol you wont be smokin many people with an auto 2.2
if you want it to be fast, you'll need a 5 speed and more than the basic bolt ons, start researching.. if you're interested in that, start saving for an h22. as for now, if i were you i'd start with things like tint, rims, drop, and definitely a system. keep it clean and looking good and everyone will love your car.
and most importantly, if you dont have a job, get one! you WILL need the money now that you've joined AZ cause modding is just too much fun

Huh, that's alright, automatic is just fine for now. But let's just say I wanted a stick, would it be cheaper to do a manual conversion including labor with used parts, or to just get a 5spd?
Hmmm...how much each? I haven't really gotten to check out the car to it's fullest yet, or check the receipts it came with, so I'm not sure if it needs a new tranny or not. I'd def. be interested in the aem v2 though...2.2cl right?

intake - ebay it. Get the cheapest one you can find. It has been debated over and over but there is probably only like a 1HP diff. between the two.
Springs/coilovers - With whatever you do, do not go cheap. If your gonna do coils get a real coil set, not just the sleeves. If your gonna go with springs, you may as well want to do both your springs and struts at the same time. Much easier and if you do you springs first and use your stock struts, they will go out fast.
Exhaust - You can get a catback system from a 94-97 accord coupe. There will be slight mods in order for it to fit right. But its cheaper to just go have it custom done at a muffler shop. The most popular muffler is the magnaflow because of its deap throaty not so ricey sounds. No one likes rice!
Header - OBX is the best cheap brand, DC sports are nice but a lil pricey. Megan is another good brand.
Just keep in mind that your driving a cl. Its not a 350z. Unless your willing to spend some money on it, your gonna be slow.

...no offence
But, yes, do what you can with her and when the time is right, move on up. All good things come to those who wait
