starting my f20b swap
welp i'm new here, been watching for the last week or so. but i've been planning this swap scince we(me and my g/f) got the car, it's a black 97 cl 2.2 auto, kinda f'd up from previous owners lack of care and maintence and exposure to coastal weather(came from flordia to houston to me in colorado), so the paints beat up and it needed some repairs but i got it knowing that and cause i been planing the swap scince my g/f starting looking for a different car.
so far before the swap she's got and i've put on for her, kybs gr-2, eibach sportlines, homemade hot air intake, and noname exhaust with exhuast shop fartcan and some piddly 10" subs in the trunk and black leather accord seats
she ordered the f20b swap from hmotorsonline, it's the blue top dohc vtec. we got that one cause it bolts up like the h22 and was a few hundred cheaper when i called. i got her fresh accord auto trans(58k on the odometer on the car it was pulled from) got it all ready to drop in and just pulled the f22b1 out last night, i've cleaned and pressure washed to engine bay ad i'm about the go do some touch up on the bay and start preping the harness, i'll let you guys know as it comes together, and if anyone has some pointers please let me know, i've done a few swaps in civic but not one in a cl or accord.
pics to follow as my noob self figures out how to host and paste.

what ecu are you gonna use? Did the f20bs ever come auto. What car is the trans from?? Can't help but wonder the difference between a sohc accord auto ecu and the f20b ecu if thats what you are gonna try? cool project though, just bought a 97 2.2 cl auto myself, gonna stay all stock though.

why did u choose the f20b? cuz it was cheaper? and you're mating it to an F22 auto tranny? what ecu are you using? I'd have used a prelude auto instead, way sturdier and the gearing is better suited to use that motor, being that its essentially a destroked H22 and it would be easier to work with wiring and ecu wise. good luck finishing it up tho! first auto F20b swap i've heard of on here.

yeah, thought of the auto h22 after i had already got the accord auto(dang), the transmission that came with the f20 was a tiptronic(sp) auto or i think they call it sportshift
i've been thinking of using a obd-2 gsr p72, i dunno, or i'll try the p13 out of my h22 civic see what works best.

that tranny of yours might work better at a 5 speed in my opinion
good luck with the swap

yeah to say the least. installing the tiptronic shifter and tcm would be a wiring feat itself, then if anything went wrong it would be damn near impossilbe for a simple simon like me to diagnose. talking hella custom and it didn't come with the tiptronic shifter which is rare itself. i've decide it would be better to sell it to a 98 prelude owner(only car usdm that came h22 tiptronic that i've found so far)
i'd of went 5spd but my g/f can't drive stick due to a hip injury. thats why the auto.
just got done touching up the engine bay, lucky the car is black it makes it easier to repaint/hide the f'ed up stuff. it turned out good

just got done with the wiring harness, prepping the new motor, and making homemade solid mounts
tommorrow i install a newer rack and pinion and tie-rods(already got), i know this isn't nesscary for the swap but the old pinon's boots are shredded and both tie-rods are blown. so might as well scince the motor out

got it installed and almost ready to go, i have to hook up the vacum lines(have to get a new vacum box, ibusted the nipple off the old one) and fuel lines and put fluids in and it'll be ready to try to fire up, but the main problem i'm having is what ecu to run, i thought i could get a tcm from a 95 accord and a obd1 auto p13 and use rywire ecu jumper for a 97 accord but they said it won't work. i dunno it sounded llike it would to me. i'm thinking of tring to start it on the f20b ecu it came with but it had a tiptronic trans, guessing it might start up just not shift like it suppose to, maybe start looking for a 96 prelude auto ecu

i a freaking noob on the computer, anyone want to do me a huge favor and post my pics, i can email them.
got it running to today off the stock f22 ecu, no check enigine lights so far, the PCB ecu that came with the f20b/tiptronic does not work, still need a air intake, still topping off fluids.

just sent the pics to cocoa, hopefully i did that right.
so far everyone's been saying i can't chip a auto ecu, so ya think get a manaul p28 or p13
need to find someone who can make or has auto fuel maps
maybe i could get a vfac and bump up the fuel. i have to try a few things till i find something that works.
rywire said if i go obd-1 i have to get a tcm that controls the trans and still comuincate to the ecu. and find a ecu that has correct maps for the motor.
thanks for all the input guys

update.
was running on stock cl ecu, starts and runs fine but threw a cel for misfire cause it don't have a obd-2 ckp sensor on the oil pump. was quoted some outrageous price to fix it, so i decided to try to go obd-1 first cause it was a cheaper route by about a G. got a conversion jumper harness from boomslang for a 97 accord.
been tring to find the right combo of ecu/tcu right now its on a chipped manual p13 and a jdm h22a p19 tcu, runs alright vtec kick in at 5000rpms, shift's weird, holds the gears too long in d4. 1 & 2 and d3 work fine, but i don't like driving around in d3.
tried a auto p13 with the auto p19, shifted fine d4 worked but it ran like crap.(hesistation, no power) gonna try to chip the auto p13, if all this doesn't work out with obd-1, i'll end up trying the aem fic with the stock cl ecu

Mom why is there two?
Just do the aem. If ya go forced you'll need it anyway or you could do a megasquirt if you don't know what that is lookk it up real goo real cheap standalone

Yeah in that position i'd say to just go with the AEM. Auto tranny conversion is way too big of a headache in my opinion. Sucks that your girl can't drive stick, it would save you a whole lot of money lol.

installed D/S rotors on the front, got the auto p13 chipped, finally got my RC 370's from the shop after waitng a month, adjusted my b&m fpr for more fuel, just took it for a test run. runs good now, no cels, pulls nicely, vtec hits at 5grand and redlines up aroung 7 grand.
last issue shiftlock keeps shifter locked, have to press it with a key to put it in gear, so i'm thinking i'll go in and wire it unlocked all the time.
