Speedo stopped working, what could it be?

Speedo stopped working, what could it be?
I started my car up last night and to my surprise noticed the speedometer wasnt working All the other guages including the tach are working great Any idea what could have caused this or how to fix it? Thanks

probably the speed sensor. your car has enough mileage that I would say it bit the dust.

it happened to me as soon as i picked up my car from the dock after i shipped it back to the US. (i was in the bahamas b4 ) so i took it into the dealer and somehow they fixed it for me for free. they said there's an extended warranty on it (which i'm totally unadware of).

also, when it stopped working, did the check engine light come on and the car was shifting really rough? that's what happened when mine went out. 97 3.0

hmm i have a manual so i dont know but it seems to lag some and my check engine light has been on for a while for a o2 sensor

if the speedo stops working does your odometer still work??
