Someone Help! (debagging)

I recently debagged the CL. However I am having difficulty removing the residue left behind. I bought some type of residue remover (forgot the name) at discount auto parts.
It has removed some of it but there is still some left. Anyone know how to removed dried
up residue from your paint? It seems that the double sided tape left behind has dried up
and it's giving me a hassle. I tried searching the forum but found nothing. Help a brotha out meng! Thx.

Try goo-gone. or a polish/cleaner wax. The detailer I went to tried some laquer thinner (be very careful with this stuff). Hope this helps.

Will laquer thinner mess with the paint? How would I apply it and with what? Thanks for the info!

You can use it, but I wouldn't. Curred paint is resistant to that stuff but it will still come off over time. Just keep using goo gone or a tree sap remover. If you want you can use a hair dryer (not heat gun) and warm up the glue, which will make it a lot easier to come off.

soak with adhesive remover, then scrape with a credit card. credit card won't hurt the paint but it will take the residue right off.

then wax the hell out of it.

and you meant debadge, right

Use some goo gone and scrape the shit out of it with a card and your fingernails. Make sure you wax your trunk afterwards, goo gone does a number to your wax job.

When I debadged my car, I actually used the 3M Perfect-It II (fine cut) Rubbing Compound, took it right off...this was after I tried goo gone, etc.

debadging

I'd love to debadge my 99, Do you just "pop-off" the lettering? How do you get started (really don't want to mess up my perfect paint)

Any help would be appreciated

You can try using a little little little bit of gasoline on a rag to take off the residue. It works really good. But you can't leave the gasoline on the paint cuz it'll wear it down with the sun. I had some overspray on my car from the median lines, and I buffed it but it wouldn't come out. So I put some gasoline on a towel and it came right off. Just make sure to dispose of your stuff right man, you don't wanna fire.

Nope, all you do is apply it to a towel and rub it (circular motion) where the letters used to be and it comes off.

debadging

I was asking how to initially remove the emblems without endangering the paint (I did search that and found conflicting information) and if you don't like someones question, how about ignoring it instead of being a smartass
