COMPLETE Debage

Alright so i've searched the forums and found people just asking about removing the stickers...

BUT what i want to do is a complete debage, meaning the acura, the TL and the type S pieces.

Here's where i come into the delima with the Acura symbol on the back, because as i can remember it is held on with a screw. Anyways, just looking for suggestions on what i could do, i was thinking maybe getting a black perl colored Acura symbol to kinda make it look completely debaged?

Just lookin' for some suggestions....

Thanks!

There has been a couple of posts on debadging, and most seem to shy away from having to patch the holes that the removal of the Acura badge will leave. I debadged my '05 NBP, and it looked HOT, but my '07 CBP has alot more chrome (or imitation chrome), and don't think it would look nearly as good debadged IMO.

My local body shop quoted me like $40 to remove the "A" and add filler and it would look like it came from the factory without the emblem. I backed off from getting it done because when they removed it I really didn't like how it looked and just had them put it back on. I have my "S" down in the lower right corner. I just think the trunk looks too naked without the "A" but that's just my opinion.. Give your body shop a call, just spend a few bucks and have it professionally done... Don't try the easy way out with a "sticker"

Good luck in whatever you decide

Well see that's what i was thinking, but then i thought the dark colored Acura symbol might look even cooler, not sure if they even make one in a black perl color...maybe i could just get the touch up paint for my exact color and then color the original? lol

I think it would look really good to paint the emblem the same color as your car, just remember there is a lot of prep work when painting plastic. You CAN NOT just prime it and paint it. Any good shop should be able to match it to your color. Be prepared to leave your car, paint code on the car is not enough. There are always variences in the color. A good painter (ours lol) shoots a few test, holds it up to the car before painting. Even with the paint code. Just a little FYI and my opinion on painting it. GOOD LUCK

OK... I have it off, preped, and a base coat, my painter still needs to paint the color, then a few clear coats. We got backed up today, paying customer go infrount of me LOL but here are two pics

the 2 holes left behind (I had to drive it home like this too )

It looks close to the CBP but it is just the base coat, I will post pics as SOON as I have it finished

Should've gone to TowerPaint.com

Send them your paint code and they send you a 16oz spray can filled with your paint for $25 shipped

Paint codes do not tell anyone how sun faded your car is or isn't, nor does it tell where the manufactor painted the car (11th number in the VIN) I would rather have a 2 coats of base, 2 coats of paint, and 2 coats of clear on something like this (to keep from peeling) than a spray can. I don't mind paying to do it right... it is just going to take longer than I expected, plus once I have that X7 I then have it for my car or any other car that calls for that type of pearl in thier paint.

You can still do the 2 base coats, 2 paint, and 2 of clear to prevent from peeling with the spray can. I do see what you're talking about with the fading and trying to get everything to match perfectly. If you got the money and want it exact, go for it .

How did you remove the "A" symbol? I'm looking underneath my trunk and I see two white clips holding the A in place. Do I just push those out or is there adhesive under the A as well?

There is adhesive behind the A as well, just like the ACURA and TL. Kinda gets annoyingg, but keep at it and you'll get it out.

I actually broke the tabs off, but I already had another one that was painted anyways.

I'm debadging tonight, but am going to relocate the Type S. I'm going to reapply Klasse All in 1 and Sealant after I get these off, but should I tape the badge on after, or clay bar the whole trunk down, rebadge, and then apply around the badge? I'm assuming that the tape will stick fine on top of the sealant, but looking for some reassurance. I guess I'd rather have my badge fall off than damage my paint as well. Probably just answered my own question. LOL

Tape will not stick that well on top of sealant. You can do a sealant and then do some IPA (mix 50% Isopropyl alchol and 50% water) then clean right around the area where you are going to place the badge
