Which side is bad
My cv joints are going.
My question is how can i tell if both are going or if just one needs to be replaced? When I turn to the right is when i notice it.
Ohh
Whats the diffecence between the cv boot and cv joint?

CV Joint is just as it says, the JOINT. The rest is what people will call axle, half shaft, etc... But yes, it is part of your axles' nomenclature. So if you replace the axle, you will be replacing your CV joint without having to rebuild it and it would save you a tremendous amount of time and effort.
The CV Boot, as aveisone stated, is the rubber cover that holds the grease in for the joint. They should not have any holes or cracks in them and if they do, you will lose the grease through the rotating force of the axles.
IMO, I would just say to replace both axles (they include CV the joints) so that you don't have this issue again a few months down the road...
The way to tell which axle it is, is just by listening to what side of the car it is coming from. It has seemed to me that they click more while turning in the opposite direction (ie: turn left right is clicking)... That's not a fact, just something I have noticed at times...

so you say to replace the axle and not just the cv joint?
Which is coming out cheaper in parts? I have a honda mech but part is another story.
Im going to ride in her to see what side exactly.

Go find a retaining wall in a parking lot somewhere and roll down your windows. ride with the wall on your left side then right side. that should help diagnose which side the noise is coming from. if your cv joints are in need of replacement, replace the whole axle. Good luck
Entire axle is cheap enough and faster, so labor cost will be cheaper if you are paying someone to do it for you...
Oh, remember to turn your wheels while figuring it out next to the wall, but don't hit it!

i'd do both at once
CV Boot = Covers the CV Joint.
CV Joint = Constant Velocity Joint; a joint in a spinning shaft that is capable of bending off its central axis while in motion.
The side that clicks is the bad one. But if the boots are torn on both sides, you should consider having both replaced. It is generally not too expensive. They run from $90 to $150 a side, depending on where you go.
Good luck.
