Rev Limitor at 4500 RPM

I've just got my 1999 Acura CL V6 and noticed that it "redlines" at 4500 RPM. The guage will not go any further. I do notice that the VTec kicks in at around 3000 RPM. Is it normal to discontinue increasing RPMs after 4500RPM.

I have a K&N air filter (drop in) and have reset the ECU seeing if that is the problem. Are there any suggestions.

my car has a little over 100,000 thousand miles and the rev limiter goes to about 5500-6000 somewhere around there!

Last oil change was at 66000 miles. I have not changed the tranny fluids yet, that will be at the next oil change. I tried resetting the ECU as a wild shot on the problem. It made no difference.

It has 67500 miles on the car right now. We usually have the local firestone do the oil and tires. Should I take it to the dealer and have them look at it. It is an ORR acura in Shreveport, LA.

What other information would you like?

I have tested this in all drive gears. It still stops at 4500 RPMS.

yes, the rev limitor (hard limit) does kick in at 4500 on neutral, but it also kicks in in all drive gears (automatic 1-4).

Very stange man.. Take it to the dealer. They can hook it up their computer and find out the last time scratched your ass in it.. It will tell them everything.
