Reliable 97 3.0 Cl ?

I am thinking of purchasing a 97 3.0 CL with ~70k from a old lady . ... it's automatic and everyone on here is ranting on about how the Automatic transmission is bad. I was just wondering how often this problem occurs on the cars ? Is it everyone of the cars or just some of them ? Also if anyone has one of these 97-99 3.0 Cl's can you please post your current milage because I wanna know if anyone has made it past 150 K miles. Thx

hi

I have a 97 3.0, and I have about 80,000 miles, and I have no problems with the transmission and my driving style is a little more aggressive then average.

Is there anything I should look for or feel when I test drive it to show that the tranny maybe going soon ? Or does the tranny just all the sudden mess up one day unexpectantly ?

make sure you drive it when the tranny and car is COLD...and pay extra attention when shifting from park to drive 4...and then the car shifts through gears...see what happens...if the car jerks forward and then back again and then starts to move forward when putting it from P to D4 (like mine does) maybe it (and my cl) might start to have problems

the only reason most of your tranny's go out so fast is because you race them im going to race mine as well and im not planing on the trann'y to last that's why when you get the cl make sure it has a 100,000 acura warrenty i have one. i blew my tranny and they installed and payed for a new tranny that saved me from about 4 grand. got i shiped from cali zero miles on it

Sorry, but this is not true at all. If it were mainly because of the type of driving, more cars would be affected. These tranny's were made poorly, or there is some flaw in a certain number of them. The type of driving you do will just make the inevitable happen sooner rather than later.
