Questions on Cat Converters

Im having a real hard time with this exhaust crap cause cant find shit for the CL, and seems that 97 accord and 98 accord things are compatable, but now that I got the headers and cat back system out the way, now it comes down to the Cat converter. Its hard to find something that is official with 2 sided flanges with 3 holes to bolt up to the downpipe i currently have and the catback. Just wondering if anyone has some idea on this. Or if ill even need one to begin with.

if you have headers and catback already, i say leave the cat alone if it's not broken. If there's not enough back-pressure in the exhaust system, you will lose a lot of low end power/torque.

if you still want to change the cat, look for Random Technology cats, Excelerate is selling them in the Black Market.

So the stock cat should be fine right? Just was wondering if it would be best to go with a hi-flow cat or not, cause most hi flow cats I see wont bolt onto the DC Header I have and the catback system. And Im really not tryna get a universal cat and have to weld on new flanges. Id prefer a hi-flow but only if its legal lol.

I have a random tech hi-flow cat that bolted up just fine to the dc header. However I do still have a stock exhaust, but I would imagine any after market stuff should be ok. I didn't notice much low end loss but then again I still have the stock exhaust and other mods that help out with that.

RT cat is pretty good, didnt notice any low end losses but then again I had the Accord 3.0V6 cat on. Good high end gains as a result

I even passed CA smog with it.

Only gripe I have is the partial rasp it gave my exhaust at certain rpms.

So would a New OEM stock converter be fine with an after market header and a cat system? I just dont want to put stress cause of exhaust build up or something like that on the system.

i self promote my straight pipe alot. and think it was one of my best mods. i have an omni power straight pipe that bolted onto my dc sports header and greddy exhaust with no issues. megan racing also make a cheaper version.

your primary o2 is plugged into a different piece of the exhaust after the header and before the cat. your secondary is plugged into the cat. the straight pipe comes with a hole to plug into the o2 sensor. or you can run a o2 de-fouler that you can get from ebay or like autozone.

someone correct me if im wrong about where the primary and secondary o2 holes are.

or o2 simulator. both trick your car into thinking that the catalytic converter is there and working properly. thats the basics of it.

I passed both visual and smog with my RT cat

If you have a test pipe don't even waste their time, it wont pass.

Uhhh ignore my previous post. I decided to call myself. LOL

FYI I called Random Tech and got the following information.

The cat (part number) is the same for both 3.2 2.2/2.3

part number 183-20002
3 bolt flange front & rear.
Rear 02 bung
Overal length 17"
Cost = $237

Hope this helps!

I plan on buying the cat since mine is damaged.

I'll let you know how this goes q=)
