Question about WA tickets and whatnot
Well, I was going to get Papa Johns today when I get pulled for running a red light ( it was yellow). So the cop gives me a ticket for $101 ( ). Not only that, but I forgot the money for pizza at home, so I had to go back and get it.
Anyways I'm wondering how many points will add?
And then he's like "There have been reports of a 2 door green coupe in your area driving recklessly"

Also (couldn't edit this in)
Yeah I only go like 30-35 in my neighborhood so I wouldn't call that "reckless". Of course, the people in my neighborhood are mostly insanely old, so perhaps their perception differs from mine.

I used to live in Vancouver, WA and when I got a traffic ticket I deferred the first one and then found cheap traffic ticket lawyers to get rid of all the others, not very expensive, especially when it compares to insurance rate increase, I haven't had papa johns in like 2 years, they don't have them in Texas, hope it was good!

Papa Johns was good, but certainly not worth a total of $122.30 I ended up paying to get 2 large pizzas. The pizzas were good though, BBQ Chicken and Bacon on Pan crust, and 1 topping Pepperoni on pan.
Anyways, I've googled about washington's point system, but I can't seem to find a site that will tell me something like "2 pts for red light violation" or whatever the correct number is.

Not sure if you can do this with a red light ticket but when my brother got a speeding ticket he got a lawyer and went to court. Basically they agreed to change the ticket to a seat belt infraction which gives THEM more money but doesn't add as much to your insurance...
Oh and... from the DOL:
"Washington's Department of Licensing (DOL) does not operate under a so-called point system. However, there are penalties, including license suspension and revocation, for repeat speeding tickets or other violations that exhibit a pattern of unsafe driving.
Washington's drivers must comply with the rules and regulations of the state's streets, roads, and highways. Information on the laws that govern Washington's drivers and vehicles is available in the state's driver handbook, which you can download free."

call up the court house or go there and ask to get the ticket deferred. it is still up to the judge whether or not you get the deferral but most of the time they give it to you. if you were in a school zone or construction zone and speeding, say bye to the deferral.
I just called them to get rid of mine.
tickets suck..
good luck,

I think I'll just pay the $101 because that way I can save the referral for something bigger, like someone said.
Plus I'll probably end up getting another ticket eventually so that referred one would go back on the record.
And I don't pay my own insurance

There are different deferreds, in WA you have one for a real crime, and then you get one every 2 years for a ticket, use the ticket one, if you get another ticket you can just postpone it till its time for the other one to drop off, I know because I have used both of my deferred judications before. Or check out the thread somewhere on this site about how to beat tickets, its pretty informative

on the back of your ticket it will have three boxes- differ, mitagate, or pay it. you only get one differal, so if you want I always mitagate mine (reduces the pay by going to court). I've gotten 200+ $$ tickets and I've gotten way below half the price. It's easy. I would do that if I was you.

Most often, a lawyer should be able to defer you for your first offense.

request a court date first. ask fora deferred penalty. basicslly you promise the court that you wont get a ticket for a year, you pay 100 bucks and that dont count the ticket. if you get a ticket in the year you pay full 101.xx fine plus the new ticket and both go on you record. or call an attorney pay 250.00 bucks and get out of it.
