most projectors are designed for HID bulbs. You need a 9006 bulb projector

I know 94-97 integras had 9006 projectors, because i've replaced them before on a friends car. You can search for the rest of the years, but try 94-97 9006 first

Correct me if im wrong but I thought for HID you had to purchase like an entire new headlight w/ the HID projector in it. They don't make HID projectors for our cars (or alteast after searching for a while). I am confused.

It's at least another $300, so far I'm lookin at about $800-900 to do my projectors w/ hid

you can get HIDs for $240 on newcelica.org. the sponsor there has it for all cars and he has great service (purchased my d2s kit from him when i went retro, also got my original 9006 kit from him too).

btw... you can get HID projectors for $90-100 and those are genuine audi d2s projectors (the best projos for new retrofitters cuz of their small size and great cutoff/color)

e.g. the 94-02 integra have projector but use the 9006 low beam bulbs. you can upgrade by just buying a 9006 HID kit that would just fit right in there. those kit usually run around $200-$300 a set.

when you're doing a retro fit it doest matter what projectors you're using as long as it fit in the housing of you CL headlight. projector that was design for HID would probably be sharper than projector that was design for halogen bulbs.

Keep in mind the 9006 integra projectors are not designed for HID and have heat and light output issues, my friend has an integra and was gonna buy new projectors for hid's because there are too many problems putting them on stock 9006 projectors. I looked into this, cuz I almost did the same thing we're telling him to do, but was worried about the issues with putting hid's on non hid projectors. That's why I got a6 projectors to use instead.

ok, lets start fresh... integra projectors basically suck... especially with HID. And besides that, they'd be hard to mount as the internal bracket of the headlight is part of the projector.

Now, what you really want is probably a pair of MDX projectors. They use H11 bulbs, which run at 55 watts, you can easily fit H9 bulbs into those projectors which are 65 watts, good increase in light right there. The MDX projectors are quite small and would take very well to HID, a H11 HID kit would work great in them down the road.

Thanks for the info. So if I picked up a set of 9006 HID projectors I could "retro fit" them into the housing on my headlight? From there I could install the 9006 HID kit? Also, I thought running HIDs w/o HID projectors was a good way to get lots of tickets.

EDIT: Everyones online right now, most of my questions have been answered thanks.

black, does HID run cooler?

i myself wouldnt go with the integra projector cuz you can find audi projector for pretty much the same price and its a much better projector.

it doesnt have to be 9006 projectors. that would just save you one step on the mod, which is getting a different harness for the bulbs. only reason you get a ticket for running HID is if you are running high Kalvin (sp?) bulbs, meaning it'll make it look too blue.

If you go with true HID projectors, the best bang for your buck are the Audi TT/BMW 3-series Bosch projectors, they run around $90-$100 a pair and give very good output.

If you want to do a true retrofit, dont waste your time and money by using 9006 projectors and a "kit, get all OEM HID components.

HID bulbs get hotter than halogen bulbs, but give off much less radiant heat.

As for the origonal question, what I stated above about the MDX projectors is the best way to go.

OK...hold on a sec....if i get the Audi A4 projectors, which run the H4 bulbs, will those bulbs work with my current 9006 plugs? or do i need to rewire all that shit?

here's another stupid question....if i decide to go HID right now while gettin projectors, wat would a good setup be, and how much would it cost? I'm tryin to go as low cost as possible on this!

A4 halogen projectors use H7 bulbs, not H4. H4 bulbs are dual filament. The wiring is different with just about any different bulb, but small harness can easily be made or bought to make them work.

Your best bet, if you want to go HID now would be either valeo D2S (audi A4) or bosch D2S (audi TT/BMW 3-series) projectors, the valeos are a little more expensive but are great projectors, very small and excelent output. As for ballasts and bulbs, dont skimp... i highly recomend the Hella gen 3 ballasts as they're completly sealed and small, work excelent for any retrofit. Bulbs, stick with 4300K OEM temperature bulbs (either Philips or Osram), anything higher is a waste of money as you lose a signifigant amount of light.

Those won't, you'd have to rip the whole thing apart, get a pair of audi or bmw projectors.

Too blue = less output = waste of money = rice = gay.

Dyme two pages and nothing...heh. jk.

best cheap or better yet..affordable way is to get some valeo h7 projectors...and get some OEM hids.....tt projectors are ok but i wouldnt get them....
or just start saving...its not hard...

check this package....http://www.hidplanet.com/package.html

save 50 or so a week or month and you should have it in no time...

who ever thought of the integra projectors...pls dont give advice if you dont know a lot about HIDS......first off...the reflector bowl on integra's suck...lens is cloudy/not clear...also the cutoff is not all that clear and sharp..equals poor lighting and not a good wide beam

looks like your my replacement. i agree with everything he said. however valeo h7(audi) and hella h1 (jag) would be good choices and easy to wire. just change the bulb connector on the oem wiring. i would go h7 though if you want to throw a xenon kit in there down the road since h7 is much more common.

i would just save up $300-400 and do a d2s retro using some valeo audi s4 units. awesome cutoff and they already have a bezel containing the light. i have used the audi tt / e46 projector and while it is the easy to fit due to its size it didnt really impress me which is why i switched. i prefer audi (valeo over hella) but some hellas are close to valeos. the main thing is fitment. i would have went valeo myself in my subie but the hellas i used were almost made to fit in my lamps.

also i may have some h7 audi units i'll have to check. $65 shipped and they are yours with bulbs and bulb connectors if avail.

anything 9006 SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

peace

Those projectors are big, because the high beams on them. They use D2S bulbs and not 9006. Ive tried x5 E39 projectors and they almost didnt fit...

exactly. thats what i squeezed into outlaws lamps. i forget who owns them now. you cant really go any bigger then that and contain them in the headlamp. i had hella bi-xenons but they would have never fit in the headlamp. i had to mount them from behind and aim them manually before putting the bumper back on. not fun, but oh well.
