Project X-Pipe 3.0
I'm new on this forum and I've only had the CL for a couple months, but I'm working on building a custom X-Pipe system for the 3.0 V6, I'm not sure what Vtec will sound like with an X-Pipe so i wanted to try it out. I know its not gonna sound like an X-Piped cobra but it should sound really aggressive. I will be using no cats or resonators. Pipe's will be 2 1/4 from each header, going into a X-Pipe Collector leading to OEM style mufflers (like the Apexi World Sport Maybe..., I'm gonna come across some problems more than likely so please be patient, I'll post pictures and sound clips ASAP
If this has already been done let me know
I've searched for it, but i guess ill be the first

welcome to the forums a word of advice beware of the brokedick trannies. the first gen auto trannies are complete crap. but be sure to post pics of ur car asap and be sure to use the search button cuz u will be able to find most of ur answers by searching.
Ummmm.....you do know you'll have to do dual exhaust to do that right?
X pipes and Y pipes and exactly what is sounds like. You'll either have to design a custom downpipe to divide into 2 pipes, and then follow through with your X pipe into more piping leading to your 2 mufflers.
Or you can go with a Y pipe after your cat, follow through piping into an X pipe into two mufflers....but this option just sounds retarded. Not saying your idea is, just saying this example of doing it is.

yea, i do know that ill have to run dual exhaust hence the plural words D: but i mean I'm experimenting, just trying to see what Vtec with an X-pipe sounds like. I'm cutting the rear header where i can weld on a 90 degree pipe going back and the front header is going strait back into the X-Collector. I'll have to post pictures =P its hard to explain. I don't care if its dumb or not, I'm just trying to be unique =( I've never heard any car with Vtec with a X-pipe. Y pipes really don't change the tone, thats y i wanna try out the X. Whats wrong with smiley's lol

What about what Trans Am's and all them F-Body V8's had done. The one exhaust pipe is flattened because of little room for the 2 headers coming into one pipe
You can always do that.
Oh and they have done tests on it and it flows the same way as if it was not flattened as the volume is still the same somehow...

But it won't change the sound of the crossover. This is usually changed by the size of the piping/muffler/resonator and the amount of restriction. The design in the piping should not affect the sound.
Well i've ordered my supplies and now im waiting on them to get here so i can get started. An X-Pipe should have a different note to it, comparing the H-Pipe and X-Pipe they have a totally different note with the same pipe diameter. The X creates more restriction, since the gases pass through ea other, it gives it a different note, not sure about the power, but who knows it might sound nice maybe like an indy car or an exotic D: or so my dads friends says, he own's a shop near Road Atlanta, building Daytona Coupes,Shelby's,GT40's,and their newest addition the Panoz. He's helping me with supplies and information, so i should be good to go. I just thought it would be a fun project.
