problem with engine...need help

last week my check engine light went on...for some reason which i dunno why it did that, i have 2.3 stick and every time i tried to gun it with the engine light on, i couldnt get above 4k rpms no matter wat, as if the rev limiter went down to 4k rpms or something...but after i turned it off and restarted, the light was still on but the reving problem was gone. i tried resetting my ecu by taking outthe negative battery terminal off...the light went off for like a day...and when the light came back on the first time driving it with the light on the reving problem came back again...someone said it has to do with my O2 sensor or something...hope someone knows wat might be wrong with my car...if u konw lemme know ...thanks

There's a two pin female connector under the glove box. Mine was attached to this big blue plastic thing. It'll take you a while to find it. I had to search and search for it. The wires should be red and grn/blu.

Use a paper clip to short one side out to the other and watch your check engine light. It will flash slow then fast. The slow numbers is the tens digit and the fast are the ones digit. i.e. slow slow fast would be 21.

Let me know what the code is and I'll look it up in my manual. 61 is the primary O2 and 63 is the second O2 sensor.

Cool, didn't know about the shorting the plugs trick... but then again, I'll just use my OBD2 scanner.

Try www.obd2.com, www.obd-2.com, and other sites that pop up if you search for obd2 scanners.
