pioneer head unit?
pioneer head unit?
Guys, i know this belongs on AV and Electronics, i just wanted the extra traffic
my brother has this Pioneer head unit (DEH-P4400), and just got a rio karma mp3 player. he has the red and white sterio plugs in the back, but when he hooks the mp3 player up to those (via minijack to red-white output), it only plays music through the front two speakers, not the rear two. Is there some way to get it to output the sterio to all 4 speakers?

Never worked with one of those, but make sure that the adaptor is a stereo mini-plug and not a mono. It's possible that the on-board input circuit is not receiving enough signal for all four outputs, but thats just a guess. A stereo mini-plug has two rubber band looking stripes on the actual jack and a mono plug only has one. Thats how you can tell the difference.

I have the DEH-P8500 and when I turn the unit off and hold down the func button a menu appears and one of the options says something of the sort make the rear speakers act like subs, maybe its in some sort of mode like that
Are sure those are not the OUTPUTS? Most cheaper radios have the line outs in parallel to the inputs on the internal amp. Therefore, if you plugged it in as such, you'd only play on the front channels. To test, plug the leads into a diff set of the RCAs on the back, and see if it comes out the rear speakers.
EDIT: I just took a quick look at the specs on that unit, it appears it does not have an input, only a front/rear line out. I think you guys are plugging in the line outs. Try the other set, I bet the sound will now come from the rear speakers. I wouldn't keep this up for long either, might fry something.

you need the rb-10 aux plug. only with that plug you will be able to have audio input into the cd player, then it will be heard on all 4speakres.
