I saw a couple people that had this code when I searched... got a couple of extra questions though.

So before I do anything stupid; I'm supposed to replace the o2 sensor, right? If I am, I want to get an after market o2 sensor because I refuse to give in to paying >$200 for an o2 sensor. Anyone who's bought an after market o2 sensor, which brand did you get and has it worked?

bosch works fine.
read the directions thouroughly before doing anything.

 

Check ebay for O2 sensor bargains.

Note, if you're game, you can buy a universal 4-wire sensor and splice the wires together for < $30. Only tricky part is the sensor power supply and output must be matched correctly. If you can read a wiring diegram, no problem. Check ebay again for these O2 sensors. Evalero was vendor I used.

which o2 sensor is it? bank 1 or bank 2. theyre different, well one has a longer wire than the other, so make sure you get the correct one. bank 2 is the one on the cat bank one is the one on the exhaust manifold. good luck pimpin

 

Yea it's bank 1 sensor 2. As far as I can tell these two fit... but I'm not quite sure, can anyone confirm?

go to Advance, tell em what you need; better yet, they'll prolly run the code for you free, as well, to make sure of what you need. the bosch is universal, so you clip off the connector+some length of wire from your burnt out sensor and reuse it -- being universal, i do believe it comes with more than enough length for either app, but you'll have to measure it right before you cut anything: not too long/too short -- but it's easy, then you use the included plastic splicers, or solder if that's your preference. i think mine was like 86 bucks.

Stop Everything, There was just a warranty extension on the emission warranty. The sencor is covered under the warranty. Get a hold of your paper work and let the dealer fix it. Call (800) 382-2238 if you have any questions

 

im pretty sure that its 97 cl's only, there has been a 10yr, 150k miles warranty on the 97 cl's and other years have been denied for it. all they did was just extended it from 10 yr to 14 yrs, i dont think anything else has changed about it.

 

the extended warranty for emissions doesent cover the o2 sensor the basic 4 year 50k mile warranty covers it. the extended covers the cat, piping, muffler, joints, resonators, and some other stuff.. here one sec i have one for my tl-s warranty extension (80k same as the 1g cl 100k)

Haha alright, well I read that "Stop everything" and I got a little spooked. I actually already ordered the sensor and it's a direct fit.

So a little on the side story: I went to fill up the first tank after my o2 sensor went out and I actually got better gas mileage than I usually get... weird.

 

lol its not weird, the o2 sensor should have gave you better gas mileage

 

That's what I mean. Without the o2 sensor it should put more gas than necessary through the engine, correct?

did you reset your ecu?

 

because your ecu went into limp mode.. kind of a default average of the driving youve been doing before the light came on.. and since the light was on you were prolly alittle easier on it than before.

 

Yea, right, easier than before... because that would be the smarter thing to do.

And no, I didn't reset my ECU.

 

Some say that for OBDII, we have to go with OEM. Is that necessarily true?

I need to change mine too, and I was considering getting an universal, such as Bosch/Denso/other.

i know its old but i gotta ask. Mine has 121,000 miles or so can i get my EGR fixed for free?? yes or no??

 

Anyone have some good links for reputable o2 sensors on Ebay? I need to preplace the post cat one to hopefully clear this P0141 Code

 

amazon is usually cheaper and offers free shipping. also I recommend the oe sensor which is a denso. many people have problems with bosch sensors so stay away from them. The NTK sensor is also a very good one albeit priced a little high.

Use a Denso, that fixed the problem.

 

Glad to hear your issue is fixed! Its easy to get one that fits the stock plug so you dont have to do any cutting and splicing. That is always the best way to go
