oil drain bolt wont budge.

Hi all. I'm trying to change my oil and my tranny fluid right now. I installed a tranny cooler and was wondering if I could just unplug the lower of the lines from the cooler and just drain it that way.

The main reason for this is that I cannot get the goddamnoil drain bolt off. That thing is on there tighter than a mother fucker. I'm trying to get it off without jacking the car up, but I can't get a decent angle on it, and when I put all my strength from the best angle I can get into it, it still won't budge. Any ideas on how I can get the damn bolt off without taking it to the shop to get under it?

Thank for your help.

Im assuming you dont have enough room to fit under there with a breaker bar. I would either park with 2 wheels on the curb and 2 on the street or get the jack out of the trunk so you can get more leverage.

you could always try to use a power tool if you have one, just turn the torque on high and speed on low.

pumps the oil out???

I have the same problem with my oil drain bolt... first time I had to bring it to pep boys and they finally torqued it off after using 2 combination wrenches...

use a torque wrench... should give you a long enough handle to get that thing loosened.

Sucks the oil out, not pump.

The only thing you have to get off is the filter. Open the fill cap, insert the tube down the dipstick, pump the handle quickly for 6 to 10 times and up comes the used oil in a nice clean manner. No mess , just empty the used oil into a jug and your done.

I ran into the same problem w/ my transmission bolt about 2 weeks ago, i broke 3 sockets trying to get it off. Ended up going and getting a 5' long piece of metal pipe made that allowed me to get more torque on the bolt. Those things can be stubborn.

I ended up having to take it to a shop. thanks anyways guys. the guy had to use a 3 foot bar as leverage to loosen both the bolts, so there was no way I was gonna be able to do it myself. I jus tdrained the tranny, and if that doesn't fix the occasional slippage then I'll take it back for a flush. They said it runs at about $99. I guess it'll be a while before I get the money for that. I gotta get my headers first .

Wow, power tools can do wonders!!! I dont know what I would do without them. My bolt came off really fast with the impact wrench.

sure power tools would be nice and all, but what do they cost? I'm very low on cash right now. Paying for bills and school. not much to spend on my car atm.
