Noob questions....seriously!
I am curious. What is the difference between driving in D4, D3, 2, 1 and so on? I'm asking because today when i was coming out of campus, I accidently knocked the shifter to D3 (usually drive in D4) and didn't pay attention... When I was on the freeway, the car accelerates unusually faster than normal (with a V2) and the tach is around 4K ~ 5K rpm while not in WOT...
Can someone explain to me how this works? Is it good for the tranny to drive in D3 all the time? What makes D3 acceleration faster than D4?
Curious....
ZZZ
*edit* and the sound is also very different too, it sound nicer and deeper than D4...

haha sorry huy i got to do this
youre driving in 3rd gear instead of in 4th. it accelerates faster cuz your rpms are in a more powerful place. bad for your gas mileage though. that and youre stressin the engine more than you have to the whole time.

D1 with most torque and pulling power, D4 being the weakest.
Your car automatically switches from D1 through 4 in an acceleration, nevertheless, if you are going up a steep hill, towing, you can play with the different gears. Especially going down a very steep slope, to not use your breaks, overheat them and findyourself rolling down without brakes, shift down gears, your transmission will slow down your car and stall it at a speed even if you are going downwards...
It's not D1 and D2 :P
1, 2, D3, D4. 1 = gear 1 (I'm not sure for what, really... towing?); 2 = gear 2 (for starting in snow); D3 = shifts from 1 to 2 to 3 but doesn't go to 4th gear; D4 = shifts from 1 to 2 to 3 to 4.
