I've had my 97 2.2 since 38k, I have 145k now, and no probs with the tranny, not even slips. I've found changing the fluid every 25-50k helps.

I changed my tranny fluid right after I bought the car (50K) only to find a ton of metal shavings in it. That was the begining of the end for my tranny. Now, 3 grand later, I should have my car back 2morrow with a brand new trans
