new to-be owner: 1997 CL 5 speed
I am thinking about a 1997 CL 2.2 5 Speed. One is in the process of being fixed at a local shop.
I took a liking to it. Leather interior, 2 door, and a 5 speed stick. It appears a good daily driver. Quiet, comfortable, modest. I assume good MPG with a 4cyl. I drive 100 miles daily to work and am already aware of Honda reliability.
What do you owners think? Tell me about your CL. I own a CRX which is amazing, but I want something bigger and especially more comfortable as a daily driver.
thanks !

welcome to the boards.
its a nice car. i love it...ive had mine since about 2001 i believe. drove this thing from san jose to san francisco everyday for 10 years lol (i went to school and worked up there.)...VERY RELIABLE!!!!. and gas mileage..well..as long as you dont do nothing to it..hahahhaha...engine wise i suppose.
if youre planning just to keep it stock then its a great daily driver..if you plan to fix it up then itd be an EVEN BETTER daily driver. hahah..2013...this car is a lil over a decade old and it has not given me any major problems..which is why i baby the crap outta her..

I have driven a subaru outback wago to and from work for the past 4 months. It didn't suck up gas it took out the straw and chugged it. In the cold I was lucky to keep above 20. It was a very comfortable ride, tho.
It seems people here are getting 25-30 MPG so that's a plus.
There is a coat of paint on the CL now and its looking very pretty. A nice dark/sky blue color... I am getting excited!

yeah thats true. but its a good thing that we can use a lot of parts from the honda accord...my cousin used to drive an e34 and we were kinda fixing up our cars around the same time. i bought my headers the same time he bought his and i paid MUCH less than what he paid for his..not to mention the labor was cheaper too..haha..
japanese cars..especially hondas....i mean you have to be an idiot not to know how to work on one yourself or find people to help you...

It's a very reliable car. The F22 motor makes 145hp and decent TQ while it can easily make 160-170hp with I/H/Ex. It was one of the only Honda 4 cylinders that made more HP than torque after those mods the cars hp numbers go higher than the tq numbers but the tq number remain close. After the I/h/ex the car does 0-60 close to 7sec and 1/4 mile in high 15's. MPG are 24/30 I think but all in all it's a nice car with a ride a tad softer than the last generation Prelude. The 5spd 0-60 was about 7.9sec if memory served me right but I'll post reviews on the car when I find them.

140k miles, leather interior. Each seat has a slight tear around where your elbow would rub, otherwise pretty nice.
I didn't like the color at first but its growing on me. It's basically an accord so parts sounds pretty abundant. Plus the Acura badge for all the ladies...
All original as well. OEM Acura radio..
I work there as a parts guy so I have been watching the progress every other day. The car would have a salvage title as well so I am hoping to be cut a good deal!

lookin good man...any plans on future mods?...or if youre even gonna mod it at all?
i started off with the a drop when i first got mine in 2000...i bought my eibach pro kit even before i got the car so when the keys were in my hand i took it to get the suspension put on along with a balance, rotation, and alignment.

I did not plan on any performance mods at all. I wanted this to be my bone stock, reliable daily. For all that fun I got my CRX to play with
Unless it already has a stock Bose (cannot remember) I will probably just upgrade the sound system.
I do like the way yours looks, though, Germ.
