need for speed
need for speed
i just ordered weapon R's new dragon intake for my car...('97 2.2), because frankly the car just isnt fast enough stock, i also ordered new headers and exhaust which put me about 800 in the whole, but i need speed...how much faster will this get me?

It really depends...what companies exhaust and headers? The intake will add I think 5-9hp.

I too just installed a weapon R intake, I read an article that said that intake added 6 or 7 hp to the 2.2L. The big difference I noticed is that when i hit the gas there is no hesitation. I would like to know what exhaust system you are installing because I am looking for a nice one for my 2.2 as well.
Honestly, I don't think it will add too much. The headers are your golden mod here since they should have the best HP increase. The intake is about 5-10hp and the exhaust, assuming it's a catback (which it's probably not b/c they're expensive) would give you the same 5-10hp. If it's just mufflers, probably 2 or 3hp. Not sure what the headers get on the 2.2 CL. Also keep in mind that you lose a little torque on the low end with an intake.
EEGRET, any exhaust for the 94-97 Accord will fit. Since you have the 2.2, make sure you get parts for the 4 cylinder Accord....

Miller,
To tell you the truth.... the headers don't make that much power. I've seen a dyno graph. .5-1 hp increase. If you don't believe me, look at the latest Hondapower or something like that ( it's the one that is on the stand forever cause they only have it quarterly). They do free up a little more power in the midrange.
This is because the stock exhaust manifold deign is similar to the header. The accord LX models make more power with the headers because their exhaust manifold is restrictive
Try to find some used headers (stainless steel, cause used cermaic can be a bit sketchy, esp if used). My setup is AEM Cold air, DC Ceramic Header, and Greddy SP exhaust. If i were to do it again, I'd just spend $40 on a K&N filter (not cool looking.. but it saves money and works good if not better than the AEM), find a used header, and whatever exhaust (it's a cosmetic thing so it's up to your tastes).
All the parts are off the 94-97 accord ex.
If all you are going to do is basic mods do whatever, but don't expect too much out of intake headers and exhaust. If you want to have fun.... do the installs yourself, that's the fun of modding the car, not let someone else do it and you drive it afterwards. Regular intake takes about 45 minutes to do, Headers (took me a bit more than 1 hour, cause i had lift access), exhaust (2 hours, damn seized bolts on the cat, had to bring in the power tools!)
Good luck...

You got headers, intake and exhuast for 800 all.
that sounds pretty cheap to me i always thought that they were more expensive.
Can you tell how much each cost and what each one is, brand and all.

Hey Ruski,
$800 is really cheap. I can tell you that the only comptech makes headers for the 3.0, and they are $1100. Intake shouldn't be anymore than $210, and your exhaust shouldn't cost anymore than $400-$500 ($200 for a universal Apexi and $200 for the custom piping). Good deal man... even though I dunno how you got it
.
Have fun with the install.
