need help taking apart dash area
need help taking apart dash area
i kinda dropped sumthing i had in the car ( 97 cl ) kind of in the steerign column area. like before the gauges and after the wheel. Anyone know how i can get in there? it would be nice to know how to take the gauges off too so maybe i can knock out 2 birds w/ 1 stone. any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
its easy in theory but a bitch to do. First you need to get the steering column off...there are 3 screw underneath the column, once u get those of just pop the clips holding the column together. If you want to take the dash off then u need to take the 2 screws out at the top of ur dash. Then u need to take a flathead screwdriver and pop out the cruise control and dimmer and take out the two screw behind them. Next remove the plastic and unscrew the two screw holding ur dash in place. Unplug everything and violia. Lastly pop the plastic off ur dash and u should be good to go.
P.S. i would disconnect the battery before all of this. Better safe than sorry.
Good luck

i dont know if this might help.. but here
http://public.fotki.com/legendarycl9...gauge_install/
i tried making a DIY for it.. but it failed.. lol..
on pics 7 & 8.. after u take out the dimmer and the cruise control, there should be a screw for each side.. take those out. (i recommend using a magnet tool so the screw comes out with the magnet.)
unscrew two top bolts pic 9
after pulling off pic 5
there should be 4 screws holding down the gauge cluster itself pic 2
take off the metal clips by unscrewing the screws.
then unplug the wires from the cluster.. and u should be able to pull the cluster apart, and change the gauge and whatever u want to do.. lol
hope this helped
