need help with 3.0 tranny
My tranny just went out. I decided to keep my beloved CL, but will need to save up for the tranny. My question to all is A: will another tranny match up to my engine, ie a type-s and B: does anyone want to part with thier tranny. I have heard of a J32 tranny swap, but they didn't go into much detail, and that is just what I need, the details. Thanx and hollah

too bad i had tranny from a 99 3.0 with 56k miles on it but sold it like 2 weeks ago. i dont understand why but the cl tranny will not go into the accord... maybe the way it is mounted so i really don't think it will work with a tl either.

Im not sure how much this is going to help, but I found a thread at v6performance.net and this guy did the manual J32 swap and he described the cost, problems and pretty much everything. I know youve prob been to the site but im just not sure if youve seen that exact thread so just search for it. Hope that helped and good luck.

u can only use the 97 tranny on the 97 cl's and the 98-99 cl's trannys are inter changeable. the accord tranny is the b7za tranny and the cl tranny is the m7za. they are alot alike i.e. sensors, internals, and gear ratio's, u even use the same rebuild kit, but the casing is alittle different.
the 97 cl's have more speed sensors which is the only reason why u cannot use that tranny on the 98-99's.

Why are you saving up money for 3.0 tranny, a mechanic who worked for acura told me that all cl's come with transmission problems, so they put it in "recalls". I my self gone through 2 trannies and Im about to go thorugh a 3rd 1 b/c my transmission is alredy skipping and cranking.

uh, because if he doesnt save money he cant buy it.. there is no extended warranty on the first gen tranny, so the options are limited to rebuilds or buying new parts.
dont do a swap, just buy a new one even if it breaks down the road it will be less hassle than a swap.

naw man the accord tranny will not work. there is an end cover on the left side of the tranny against the fire wall. on the outside of the tranny on the drivers side. it is just a cover and has maybee 15 screws holding it on. and it is bout 12 inches around. measure urs, (thickness from side to side) and measure one from an accord. maybee that is where the size difference is and if so maybee u could use ur end cover on the accord end. ill take pics tomorrow of mine to give u an idea of what im talkin bout.

most if them can. the only thing that a 97 has that a 98 doesent is the secondairy shaft sensor. or was it the second main shaft sensor. well eather way it will not work. but yea all the other sensors are interchangeable. oh yea except for the vehicle speed sensor which also changed.
