mud guards?

Anyone have a set of rear mudguards on their 1st gen CL? My rear bumper keeps on getting dirtied up from sticky road tar and its a pain in the ass to remove, How much would a set with installation cost me and is the aftermarket ones as good of a quality as one from a dealer?

I would get the ones from the dealer and install them yourself. I believe all you have to do is use the same screws that hold the fender lining on.

actually, there's also some kind of ahesive that holds the rubber/plastic splash guard itself flush to the lower bumper. this i know because, six months ago i noticed that my rear splash guards (that were on there since brand new) were like dangling as though a screw was missing. both had this problem and i wanted to know what was wrong. so i took it to the dealer and he told me that the adhesive wasn't sticking any more... so he ordered me new ones and installed them for free as i was still under warranty at the time. it's kinda like the door-edge guards. they don't just slide on. they have that gray rubbery stuff that holds it on that looks like gray chewing gum. it's not that expensive to get the guards at the dealer. i think when we bought the car it was pretty reasonable to get them and have them install it. but i'm not sure how much they'd be now. oh well, hope that helps

I had them on my car and they were the ones from the dealer. Made a huge difference. So much so that I'm going to add them to my TL once winter gets closer....

I've had the Acura mudflaps, front and rear, since I bought the car. I'm sure they help, but I still get dirt/tar/etc. on the bottom of the rear bumper. I think it's just our design!

Sometimes I wonder if mine are effective, too. The ones we had on my family's older Accords seemed to have worked that's why I got mine. Hmm... maybe you're on to somethign Ice.

I didnt originally want them on my car but the jerks at the dealer would not take them off of the car because I didnt want to pay for them. They said they were stock but I still had to pay but eventually I wrote acura and they paid me $150 that the mud guards cost for my inconvience. But I am glad I got them even better since they are free.

I've always wanted a pair for the rear, because the dealer never put them on when I got the car. If anyone doesn't want theirs I'll take them off your hands. I don't know if i want to buy them new since I've already had the car for 3 years w/o them!

Anyone in the NY area have any friends that could hook me up?

I wouldn't say rich... Fortunate to be able to afford them, yes. It's more a matter of not want to give more money to the dealer....
