The acura stuff shouldn't be any different, it's probably made by prestone

Prestone Green is dead wrong. You need a coolant that meets/exceeds the JAMA specification ... no silicates and no phosphates. You should immediately drain, flush and fill with Honda/Acura coolant OR the equivalent.

In respect to the manufacturer, it is an Idemitsu product - not domestic.

i checked and made sure that the prestone that i put in there has no silicates and no phosphates. i put 50/50 in there.

Prestone isn't the issue. You said it was "green". It should be a light yellow if it is the JAMA formula.

Precipitation of the phosphates, plugging of lines and cooler. Silicates will form "goo" or gel, causing hot spots which will result in cavitation within the water pump.

i avoid the green stuff at all costs. had my radiator replaced at 4 years ago, shop filled it up with bulk coolant. led to failed seal on a waterpump with only ~30-40k on it. finally had the money to have the t-belt job done last month. for the extra 5 dollars i only run honda. i would at least take 10 mins and drain the radiator then add the new coolant that way theres only a little bit left in the block. if youre keeping the car and dd it alot it does matter imo
