Looking for Alternator
got mine from advance auto parts for $120 or so...but i'm on my second one from them. soooo i'd suggest finding an electric motor shop and have them custom wind on for you. then again that may be over $200 but it would be more powerful than the 100 amps the stocker puts out and may last a hair longer than a replacement.
that's what i'm doing if this one dies on me

wasnt sure if you had any experience with these people, but there is no core charge on the product.. just shipping.. it's like $135 shipped.
well my neighbor owns an auto repair shop and he told me if my alternator dies again (which it will) to give him a call and he'd hook me up with his electric motor supplier and they'd take the casing from my alternator and add extra windings (so it produces more current) and go thru everything else on it for me.
and no, i don't have any experience with that site but for $135 shipped it's worth a try

Any chance you could tell me who rebuilt yours Ted? Or what supply company will rebuild yours jz? More current would be very useful as I am planning on upgrading my electronics
Didn't want to pay the $450.00 for the 200amp alternator I saw.
It might even be a lot cheaper to rebuild as from what other people are telling me, it sounds like a fried regulator and not the whole alternator.

I bought mine from Autozone, was $145 but they matched Advance Auto for $115. Lifetime warranty, but I'm on my second one too, first one died two months later. They are just cheaply made, like the others said get it rebuilt instead - keep in mind that may take a few days tho, where you can go pick a remanf one up in like 5 mins.

the one i got from advance said 105 amps...not a whole lot when you talk about putting a big stereo in etc, although a better battery does help too
mini- the place he deals with is called M & W electric motors service
Went to Acura last Friday for a tranny flush. On the way home, the battery light comes on and I hear this whining sound.
Took it to my mechanic and he said the alternator was dieing so I kept the car on and took it back to Acura as it's under warranty. They said they had never seen an alt bite the dust so quickly (bearing was very loud). Alt was $218 (rebuilt 3 yr warranty), labor was another $100. My deductible was $100.
Must be an uncommon problem.

Okay.. I just got the alt swapped out today. Found a rebuild shop who traded me my shot one for a rebuilt.. $130 with a 1 year warranty included. $50 for installation. I figured it was a pretty good deal so I took it. Thanks for the help guys.
