A little fun on a Spring like day...

I was bored and needed to fix my grill because some of the paint had chipped off during the winter.

I sanded it down and cut out the back on the ribs that are close to the acura symbol. I then sprayed 3 coats of primer down on it and sprayed gold down. the gold really Stood out as you will see in the picture. them i layed black down over it almost covering all gold. after than i kept spraying gold, black, gold, black, gold, black untill i found a mixture i liked.

last step CLEAR COAT and FINISHED.

the acura symbol was sanded down primered and sprayed gold.

OH BTW. if you do this use WHITE primer. it will make everything alot brighter.

i like the outcome alot tell me what you think!!!

Damn, not bad for a 98-99 grille. Up close it looks a little much, but when you look at it on the whole car, it's definitely hotness.

the original plan was to paint what used to be chrome gold and the rest black. then i had an idea and went with it. in the sun you can tell the gold is there. i might end up putting a hint more black on it later we will see. who has this grill they want to get rid of i would like to try another concept?

Howd you cut the ribs out? Looks awesome! I'd like to do this maybe this weekend, but instead of gold I'd like to look at a chrome/silver concept. Nice work!

i cut them out using the all mighty DREMEL TOOL. i used the pad that cuts metal just so i wouldnt have to go through a million pads cause they always break on me. chrome and silver would be too much try doing silver and black depending on your car. you can always buy another one or take somethign to practice on to acheive the look you want.

and thank you

Nice. I tried painting all my badges gold but The gold paint doesn't really reflect like the goldtone emblems. Looks cool in the pictures but when you actually see it, it's almost yellow.

My original plan with the CL was to paint the grill, emblems, window trim gold but like I said, the gold didn't really come out the way I wanted. I would buy the gold emblems but their WAY to expensive. Shame tho, gold trim would look nice with a Cyprus green pear.

Now I'm thinking of blackhouseing the headlights, paint part of the grill black, and tint the break lights.

looks sick man...I'm in desperate need of a 98-99 grill to do kinda the opposite of what you're doing (black out everything except for gold 'A'), but I definitely agree the 98-99 grill's are the best looking ones

there is one on ebay which i am now the highest bidder...ends in 2 hours or so

i wanna try another one thats why i am buying that.

i like the black out with the gold A that was what i had oh say 2 years ago when i first got the car but have no pictures. just paint the A gold the gold that comes with our car does exactly look right to me but that is just my opinion.

im glad you like it

haha thanks for the offer man but I'm keepin the gold 97 grill and keeping it stock

I'd trade it if it mine were silver, but I don't think I'll ever be able to locate another all gold 97 grill for awhile if I did : /
