lightened/underdrive pulleys
lightened/underdrive pulleys
Does anyone have pulleys installed? Any noticeable changes? I was thinking of getting at least an alternator pulley for my 2.2. Seems like a decent upgrade...
underdriving pulleys are defienetly worth it.... engine revs much faster therefore giving you u better accelaration.... I dunno if just the alternator pulley alone would do much though... I had the AEM kit... got it at www.modacar.com for $114
itz a underdrive for the alternator and powersteering.. overall very satisfied.. only draw back is if that if you don't have HID, ur Halogen headlights will dim alittle at idle... slightly noticable...

hmmm... I never really though thtat the difference would be that noticeable. I guess being les than half the weight of the original pullys it would make then a tad easier for the engine to spin, but it still has to turn the belt, so nothing gained there.

I've being running the AEMs for 3 years already.. since actually almost 4, with a 400w amp and 1 10" sub with absolutely no problems..... exept for the halogen headlight dimming at idle...
I'm not sure about the F22/F23 series.. but i have the OBX underdrive crank pulley for my other car(420A Eclipse GS) for 3 years as well and no problem at all!!! talking from my experience with pulleys here....

i have the aem and have never had anyprobs for the last 3 yrs. only thing is lights would dim at idle and ac works less at idle. since the hids no light dimming
i did install an optima deep cycle batt ever at the same time.for $100 they are not a bad deal. the car accels a little faster but not anything like throw ur ass in the seat. every little bit helps.
as far as damaging the engine that is only about the crank pulley. there is tons of debat eon this. jens from park ave acura said thats bs and he would install it for me. im still have no idea what the truth is or not.

its the crank pulley whihc aem doesnt offer. UR does.
the debate is whether or not the crankis a harmonic balancer or not. On the f engines its not, but ppl still say that when they took their engine apart the bearings were all worn. these are also the same ppl who race their cars. so whos to say what the cuase is.
