I wanna know again, how many miles did you all let your 3.0s go to until you replaced the timing belt? This car was always garaged, always maintained and never driven real hard.

My advice would be to have it changed soon. Timing belts are not only about mileage but also plain old age. Acura's, and many people's, recommendation is 105k or 7 years. Being in PA means your car sees both heat and cold, which would mean you should really consider the age factor.

I'm at 80,000+ at the same mileage, same area as you Opi. Car still runs fine, however, I will be changing it this spring or early summer.

That's kinda what I'm looking for. I can do it now, but I was going to wait until summertime when I (hopefully) land a decent trucking job after I finish school and have a bit more money. Car shouldn't have more than like 65k on it then.

Wow, sorry... I mean I'm at 80,000 on the same timing belt. It's been a long week

But yeah, I know what you mean, I gotta save some money up because that's not a DIY I really want to tackle.

South, down 222. I usually tell people I'm from Reading because people seem to know where that is. Sinking Spring is a few miles outside of the city.

When I bought mine @ 64k a few months ago - I did timing belt, acc belts, water pump, hoses. All as insurance essentially.. and the car is 11 yrs old, rubber only lasts so long.

I changed mine just last November with 104k on the odometer along with water pump and tensioner. Mine is a 98 also. By visual inspection it still looked good but that doesnt mean much. I would say you would be fine

do a serach in one of my post i have posted a detailed experience of the timing belt job that I got done. 250 for labor plus 165 for parts and that included all the tensioners all the seals all thebelts and lot of shit that my mechanic said does not need to be replaced and I told him that if you are going to open that shit up replace what ever is in the kit and he did.

But looking at your milage just wait till you hit 100K man and save up you are in no dire need to a TB change....

And then do it right ...

I could have saved a couple of bucks but what the heck man labor is expensinve so if you are going in there flush every thing out and replace it with new...

my 2%

Anyone in Socal?

I've got a 98 3.0 I bought a couple months ago. I plan on cleaning out the EGR and getting the timing belt changed.

Anyone in Southern California remember where they got their TB done and how much?

they recommend 105k and i thought I could push it. I only made it to 110,xxx before a big hill out of nowhere blew my motor, and $1800 later I have a crate motor with 30k or less. Moral of the story, roughly $300 is less than roughly $2000 every time so cahnge that shit as soon as possible.

If it was like mine you will have absolutley no warning either-
