i've just joined the bad window regulator club

at least it's better than the "blown tranny club"

my window just fell to the bottom by itself. so i popped off the door panel and saw that the little dingy piece of plastic that the top cable grabs onto has broke. the motor still runs. little fucking piece of plastic and i'll cost me the whole assembly!!

i've done some searching here and see that some people have gotten the 94-97 accord kind but some said that the one touch doesn't work anymore. can i get a comfirmation on that? thanks

I've got a question regarding this issue...

When I've got my driver's side window down a couple inches, it sounds like its rattling or is slightly loose. And if i grab it and wiggle it back and forth a little, its able to move side to side within the slot just a little bit. Is my regulator about to go or what? I hate the rattling sound when I go over some cracks/bumps in the road, and I wanna know if it can be fixed, or if something worse is about to happen!

i can feel that my motor is "wearing" down... is that a sign of it dying? if so... will a replacement go faster then when it was good?

yeah seriously, both of my windows seem to go up slower. and on my passenger side, when it is open halfway, and i drive, it makes this rattle sound. and when i open the passenger window all the way, when it gets to the end, it makes this noticiable CLUNK sound. i was wondering, is it hard to change both door motor/ assembly? and HOW MUCH for the parts alone? not the accord ones, but the cl. thanks!

ok as i suspected it, my window thingy finally died. my driver side is able to roll down, but cannot roll back up. when i push the button, it makes this clicking noise and i hear the motor working, but the windown isnt moving up. what is the problem?..what do i need to change....(is this the window regulator or the window motor)

i think i have to change both side since ive noticed the passenger's side had a MAJOR decrease in speed in going up as well....

thanks guys.

urgh..so pissed since i cant open window..get sso hot. can only open moonroof..

I just joined on Saturday...I got in my car, with the window rolled up, and when I closed the door, I heard a strange sound...kind of like hitting an empty coffee can with a wooden spoon. Next thing I know, the up/down on the window is all messed up...funny noises and wouldn't stay up.

Took a good pounding at the dealer...$443!!
The part was $176. I knew I wasn't gonna have the luxury of waiting a week to try to find a part and figure out how to do it myself. The dealer was still open on Saturday, said they could "accomodate" me, so I gave in.

I've taken extra good care of my car, low miles, etc. but it's really getting frustrating with all the little things that keep breaking....seat tracks, tranny, alternator, climate control, radio, the list goes on....I thought Hondas and Acuras were supposed to be good, reliable, high-quality cars!?!?!

I'll definitely try to do it myself if happens again...

I know, I know, you all want to get your violins out and play along with me

Don't for get 1st gen CLs are starting to get up there. Mine is 8 years old. Sure doen't look like it though. People always coment on how up-to-date the car looks in styling and such. Good luck with your windows guys. I am really thinking that is a 97 thing. But who knows, mine do roll up slow some days.

Yeah, first gen CLs are getting a little "long in the tooth," but mine is a '98 and only has 58k on it. It's totally stock, and I don't drive it hard...just back and forth to work mostly.

I know other people with '98 - '01 Accords and second gen CLs that had window regulators fail. So, I'm not sure it's just something unique about '97s.

I really enjoy driving this car, but the number of flaws in design and craftsmanship have really been piling up, at least for me...

Bad Tranny Club AND Bad Regulator Club AT SAME TIME

At 128k BOTH the auto tranny on my 98 cl3.0 and my window regulator died. The "cheap piece of plastic" syndrome killed the regulator. The tranny is a mystery to ACRURA since i babied the car but no mystery to those who have suffered it. Of course for informational purposes, I will also note that the alternator went bad at 124k in case you want to know what to do preventative maintenance on. The reason the window regulator goes bad at the same time as the tranny is so the drivers screaming will disapate and will not annoy passengers riding in the car. Or perhaps its to vent the tranny fluid smoke burning of the exhaust.

well, like guajo said, it's an easy fix

i just replaced mine a week or so ago, and it was cake.
unfortunately it was like 100 degrees or something ridiculous like that..

the only hard part is getting the panel back on.
i found that once you line everything up pretty well, just forcefully take your knee to the door and it snaps right back on.
i was trying to be too careful at first and and that thing wouldnt go on for the life of me..

My Window isnt exactly broken, but it makes an awful grinding noise, coming from the area closer to the dash(front) when opening. I'm worried cause i replaced the regulator 2 years ago...it is on the verge of breaking again?

Mine just went out on BOTH WINDOWS in the space of a week. I have only looked at the drivers side so far and i have to say WTF??? The cable in that thing is not replaceable. My cable frayed and got caught up, so I took the motor apart, removed the bad strings and put it toghether, only to have the remaining strings fray and die as I was testing. So now I will be shelling out 120 for a 2 dollar cable.

Im having problems with my passanger window, and at times my driver window. Mainly when the weather strip is wet it seems though, Iv had alot of rain latly, and it seems to be wearing in on the weather striping around the window and slowing the glass as it goes up as if the striping is like tape or something. But it could be more, i guess ill have to wait and see, really not tryna get a new what ever ima need, cause im a lazy ass fuker (lol) ill pay $400+ to get it fixed, but really trying to avoid it.
