An interesting fact along with a question

some of you might know this some or you might not.but honda/acura vin numbers have our chassis codes within the VIN number, take a look, you will see ...YA1....... on our car. it usually will start on the 3rd or 4th digit. like for example a 01+ Civic Sedan will be 1HGES1. as if you go up to any honda you will see the chassis code. well just wanted to share that

now heres the question. if the chassis of a CL and a 5th generation accord is so similar why is the chassis codes different, and what are the differences between the chassis'. and also what is the difference between YA1 and YA4 (2nd gen CL).

Maybe because Honda was produced elsewhere and ours were in Ohio?

most of the honda's use japanese manufactured parts and partially assembled here, or in North USA. my old civic the only thing that wasnt japanese made was the radiator, and that car never gave me problems.

I'll try to give a decent answer since most don't seem to want to provide any posts with substance.

The chassis might be slightly different from the 94-97 Accords, (don't quite know).

Between the first and the second gens, there are many differences. Most notable of these is size.

For example, you can't swap a 3.2 type-s motor into a first gen without hacking warious parts.

Kinda get the idea?
