Ideas for F22 Project
Ideas for F22 Project
Trying to decide on what I should do with my F22. It has just over 200k miles, but runs perfect and doesn't burn a drop of oil.
1) Store it away for when I decide to sell the car.
2) Sell it / part it out.
3) Rebuild it so it has a fresh motor when I sell the car.
4) Take my time and rebuild it as a side project. Possibly bump the compression and drop a cam in it. Then swap it into something small like a Civic or CRX. Problem is, I already have too many cars.
5) F22 engine block coffee table. This is typically done with V8's and I don't know if it would be stable with such a small, narrow block.
Any other ideas?

just keep it for when you sell it..
out of everything i've done to teh CL over the last 5 years, the one thing i regret is pulling out that F22 cuz like yours it was flawless & didn't burn a drop of oil, even at 220+ km's..

Haha, yeah that's a good point. I'm really considering it, but it's a perfectly good motor.

You should build your f and keep it in the CL... do you still have your CL? hahha I'm a little behind on member news.
get it ported and polished and get new internals and drop a turbo cam in and boost that bitch!

I'll keep it and rebuild it. I'll even try to document it with photo's like a DIY. It's been something I've wanted to do and missed the opportunity last time.
Nice.
Sounds like a fun project. I'm surprised there aren't more swaps like these. They would rather do a mini-me or LS swap before an F22/23. Which gen Civic is it going in?
If I swap it, I'd probably put it in a 4th gen sedan. There's a few local ones that have a straight body and bad motors for cheap. An STD 4 door with an F22 would get something like 45 mpg easy and run low 14's with the mods.
probably not with built internals. you'll have to upgrade your fuel delivery.
When you build an all motor car, the fuel economy can sometimes go up if it's not a crazy build. My Civic put down 197 at the wheels with a walbro 255lph fuel pump and RC 310cc injectors. It got 36 mpg city which is about 6 more than I was getting with the stock GSR motor. The added torque of the F22 in a 2000 lb car would probably be pretty efficient since it wouldn't have to work as hard.

OP, I'd build it and have it sitting around for a civic, but you could always still sell it if you wanted or money got tight.
especially if you put it in this:

comes with everything minus tires for a rolling chassis, plus a set of leaf belts, hyabusa cluster and wiring stuff. it's a steal for 750 bucks that's for sure.

mirrors, lights, fenders, enclose the frame around the cockpit. it's really not that complicated, you can insure it like a hotrod. i built an entire chassis from two frame rails i chopped, it's on the road and insured.
