how to remove broken bolt out of heads?
ok, so I was just going to have a shop do it but they want $200+ for the job so I told them to go fuck themselves.
I was tightening the bolts in the valve cover and I had the torque wrench on the wrong setting, it was set fot he intake manifold bolts, so I ended up tightening it too hard to the point that the whole damn bolt just twisted and broke.
it's basically flush with the top of the threads, so I can't get a grip on it with anything. what can I do to get it out, short of paying $200+ for a shop to do it ?

my friend broke a bolt on his Eclipse trying to up the intake manifold on. what i did was i took a phillip head screw driver and hammer that sucker in the broken bolt just enought to turn it. kinda like making an impression + right on the broken bolt. and using the screw drive to unscrew it.

eazy-out and drill. Tape off the area around the bolt to catch shavings, then drill a hole slightly smaller than the easy out. Hold the easy out in a pair of vise grips, and hammer the easy out into the bolt while slightly turning it. When it's in there, unscrew it slowly and carefully.
This method works on just about anything, i use it on jets all the time.

sweet, thanks for the help guys. Shop also wanted $300 for the valve adjustment since I got my cams in. I'd rather do it myself until I get it quiet than pay them that much money, those duechebags.

Hey, it's the approved Air Force way of removing screws. What can I say, we're ghetto like that.

What is ghetto about an easy-out?
Those are the only way to get some stuck bolts out of a block. The only other I could think of would be to dremel the + for a filips. But man, that would be a pain in the ass. Or well, if you had a TIG welder, you could weld a breaker to the bolt and turn it like that, but you might ruin the block trying that... NOPE,the Easy-Out is the ONLY WAY TO GO.
