It's better to go OBD1 w/H22's, but mine is the last year type-R H22, 2001. Trust me these cars are alot more fun with any year H22.

I'm looking into smog restrictions. We have to either put in a motor of the same year or newer so i'm gonna have to find a 99+ motor. I can find someone to smog it for me (if I go w/ an older motor), but when I sell the car the new owner will be fucked and restrictions are getting tighter and tighter making it hard to get around them

I read in Honda Tuning that we can get a "referee" to look at the engine swap to legalize it for smog (so u dont gotta go pay some foo to pass u) as long as the engine is the same year or newer. Just wanted to let yall know.

And yea, how much is an H22A 97 or later?

Edit: CLpower just said it as I posted this.

If you want to have an H22 that is smog legal just buy a USDM H22 out of a US Prelude. Dont buy a US H22 without a tranny and I suggest not to buy the SH package H22. My motor is Euro market and cost me just over 4 g's for m/t/ecu. I'm an all motor guy, I could care less about boost or the bottle, even though both are very cool. So for me this motor is top dog for all motor out of the box performance. This motor and especialy the tranny is worth every fuckin penny.

-H22A Type-S 97+ for $3950
-H22A 92-01 for $1850
-H23A 99 $2000

Looked at other places but prices are around that range.

Basically it is going to cost between 1700-2700 for the H22A. The H23A is cheaper probably because not as many people want it because of the OBD2 ECU.

The H22A with manual transmission can cost more than getting the auto transmission probably because of the popularity again.

That is all I could really find but I didn't look THAT hard.

my cl is heading to the shop, very soon, to get an h22 swap and 5 speed conversion. after that, its going down to a local fender shop, to fix the exterior damages.

i also have money for rims, suspension and a bodykit. my cl shall be coming together, very shortly.
