Grille Advice

I just bought a 97 grille ($30 shipped - w00t w00t) and it definitely needs to be painted. I want it to stick with the overall theme of the car - white, black, and silver. So I was thinking about painting the outside ring glossy black to contrast with my white paint. I'll paint them emblem and the wings white, and the rest of it flat black. Basically, it's the inverse of Klepto's. If I get time at work tommorow I'll put together a chop, but if you guys can visualize this, let me know what you think.

Quick 5 minute chop... I think it will look good once it's actually on the car.

That looks really damn good, I like it

Paint the inner grill black too, along with the outer chrome piece for the match

I got the grille sanded down tonight. Hopefully I'll prime and spray it tomorrow, and it will be on the car by Friday.

Don't paint the outside trim black and the wings white,... it will look odd once it's done. Paint the outside trim white to match your car, then black out the wings and paint your (A) white....
I went with the klepto style grill but I will most likely paint my (A) bronze to match my wheels after winter...

Too late. We'll see how it looks once it's on. I can always repaint it. I'm not spending money to color match until I get the car painted anyway.

Edit: Besides, I want to do something different. What you described is what Klepto and others have done. Klepto's is by far my favorite CL around, but I don't want to copy it. I'm going for originality.

I think yours will look sweet especially since you have the black rims, don't worry waht they say they just wanna see the klepto style, I can't wait to see yours I've always wanted to see a grill done in that fashion, I don't like color matching the outside piece, it hides it instead of accents it

Here it is - I like it. I wouldn't mind the emblem being silver like stock, but then I would have to lose the wings. :shrugs:

And before anyone says anything, yes, it does need to be dropped. Next Spring/Summer.

Yeah, I'd like to get a second set of headlights to do with it though. I'm afraid of messing them up. Thanks for the comments.

You don't need to really worry about it for blackhousing, it's a pretty simple job

The whole car is looking hurt. I just washed it today, and ugh, so many scratches, marks, etc. My mom had this car before me and she hit a few things, and so far I've hit 1 car (will be my last). Fortunately it will be getting painted either this winter or spring at the very latest.
