Gauges warning~!!!!!
Gauges warning~!!!!!
Ok
So I bought a set of gauges from a 96 accord, so I could restore black face gauges
I found out something...
The Tachometer (RPM) on the accords differ from the CL.
It looks the same....the circuit board looks the same too....hell even the model #'s are the same....just a different "generation" i suppose.
On the circuit boards of each....the Accord says [2] and the CL says [3]. I'll tell you what differences it does.
When I had the accord ones in:
-The engine would make a funny sound I've never heard for some reason...it went away when I put the CL one back in.
-The idling RPM would read 2,100 RPM, and when you turn the engine on, it would hit 4,000 RPM then back down.
-The RPM would never go below 1000 RPM.
-It would run about 2,000 RPM above normal. (VTEC started at 6500 RPM, hit 5,000 RPM when it should hit 3,000 RPM from my foot pressure)
-When I floored it, it would go beyond 8,000 RPM and hit the end. Then when it shifted it would go back down.
-Idles at about 2,000 RPM...when you start to accelerate it jumps 1,000 RPM out of nowhere, no matter how light you press.
These are just some things I noticed with the Accord gauges....Just take off the circuit board and swap them and you'll be fine....just a warning incase anyone breaks their tacho needle and buy accord ones and find these same symptoms.
