Forced induction on Engine Swap
Forced induction on Engine Swap
I was just wondering . . . When people do Engine swaps on their cars and they decide to get a turbo or supercharger do they usually just buy a kit that was designed for that motor and mod the kit so that it'll fit in their engine bay or do they just custom build a turbo since custom modifcations are need anyway. For example if a CL with an H22A wanted forced induction would it be smarter to buy a kit from a company (greddy, Jackson racing) or is it smarter to custom build a kit.
All depends. Only thing when you buy a kit all the R&D has been done and the gains have been proven. You can custom build a kit and make it better, but you have to do all the R&D dyno, fuel/ignition tuning ect.

Some kits give proven gains and expected results and include parts to upgrade fuel/igniton. As far as the fuel/ignition tuning goes, yes that would need to be done to utilize the maxium amount of gain from the forced induction. Usually when you buy kits there is an baseline amount of gain that the manufacturer claims with the kit. With a piced together kit, you usually experiment with what kainda gains you get from different parts.
