Finally got it!

Hey guys, I finally got my CL...I wanted 2nd Gen CL-S, but it was just too much $$ at this time, but I really liked this car too and I got a pretty good deal on it.

It's a white 98 3.0 Premium, 64K miles. Dealer put on new Michelin Pilots too.

I've just got a few questions for the experts:

1. How much would extra keys cost me? I assume since it's a chipped key, that I've got to go to Acura. The dealer only had the one set of keys, and no ID plates - how hard is it going to be to get a key made? The dealer is paying for another one, plus I need one more. Also, can they make a valet key?

2. What model car/year parts fit this car? I've never seen the CL listed, but I assume it's quite similar to the Accord under the hood. 94-97 or 98-2002 parts? (I'm looking at an intake, AEM or Comptech if available...and headers - and ideas on those? Comptech?).

3. The trim on the outside of the window, at the bottom, near the end of the door (the chrome strip, etc) is a bit away from the window and would probably allow rain to get inside the door - anyone know how to fix that?

4. How large is the stock alternator on this thing? I can't find that info anywhere.

5. Where can I get/buy the Acura-CL.com window stickers?

6. There are two Safety Recall TSBs listed at alldata.com for this car:
02-014 JUN 02 Recall - Ignition Switch Replacement
99-023 MAR 01 Recall - Lower Ball Joint Replacement
Should I do anything about either of those?

7. Any of you guys (1st gen or 2nd gen) from around Chattanooga or the general area? Do any of you ever get together?

Well, sorry for all the questions - I'm just excited about having the car. I searched for a bit, but didn't find what I needed but I probably did it just slightly wrong, and one of you guys will find this info in two clicks...sorry to waste bandwith then.

Thanks, -Michael

1) Dealer

2) Engine - 98-02 Accord V6 / Suspension 94-97 Accord V6

3) Should snap back down. If not, buy a new one here. It's illustration 10 on the door panel parts page

4) 105 AMP

5) Dunno, someone here makes em. You'll have to search

6) Might as well ave the dealership address all SB's on the car.

You dont have to go to the dealer for the keys. If you can find a hardware store that does it, it would probably be much cheaper. Cost on the keys (for the Ace I work at) is about $6 and it takes about 3 minutes to make them work. The cheapest you will find anyone selling them for is probably around $25.

Chris, thanks. I think I'm gonna go for the Comptech Icebox, I dunno. That site is pretty sweet, I'll try to get that peice to snap back down. 105 alternator eh? Looks like I'll prob have to Ohio Gen that one hehe. Nice ride btw...

Apoca and 97, thanks for the welcome! I really like this forum b/c the people here tend to be of a higher intelligence than other forums I've seen. You guys really know ur sh**. I don't think the auto tranny is that bad 97, better than the one in my previous car and I'm too lazy for a manual daily driver...

xrunner - are you sure about that?? I was RTFM, and it said the keys were chipped - how can you guys make that work?? A buddy of mine has an Accord - our Ace couldn't even make a key that worked in that.

the keys are chipped best bet would be to buy one off ebay and have the dealer program it.

FO you dont mind not haveing the little Acura A on your keys, just go to your local Honda dealer. Their T5 key normally runs 15-20 dollars chepaer than the Acura T5 keys.
